Chapter 82 Probationary Disciplinary Action
Chapter 82 Probationary Disciplinary Action
The school's joint investigation team held its first meeting on Tuesday morning.
This time, there was no room for compromise. The teachers from the Student Affairs Department retrieved the surveillance footage from the Entrepreneurship Incubation Center and took detailed statements from Lin Feng, Xu Qiang, Wang Peng, Tan Zhao, Su Wan, Shen Jingyi, and the two security personnel who were present at the time.
The School of Computer Science provided materials from Xu Qiang's previous report, records of his conversation with Zhou Yang, and a list of over 500 "Shengyue" MP3 players seized from Zhou Yang and his associates. The Security Department supplemented the report with details of the questioning of Zhou Yang after he was taken away.
The chain of evidence is complete and the facts are clear.
The investigation team acted swiftly, interviewing all eight students involved in Zhou Yang's "agent network" on Tuesday afternoon.
Most of these students were either greedy for small gains or couldn't refuse to help; they had never seen anything like this before. The student affairs department, the college, and the security department jointly questioned them, and the atmosphere was serious.
They were all terrified and answered every question. They not only handed over all the MP3 players they hadn't had time to dispose of, but also explained in detail how they got the goods from Zhou Yang, the prices, how many they sold, and which "downlines" they had recruited.
After the conversation, each person was also asked to write down what happened and their self-criticism.
All eight of them received a school-level warning.
Although the disciplinary decision is not as serious as a demerit and will not be recorded in their files, it is enough to affect their future awards, honors, and postgraduate admissions.
Fear, regret, and resentment intertwined in the hearts of these young people. And all the resentment ultimately pointed to the same person: Zhou Yang.
"It's all Zhou Yang's fault! If he hadn't dragged me into this, I wouldn't be in this situation with a disciplinary action!"
"He supplied the goods, saying there would definitely be no problem. Now look what's happened, we've lost everything!"
"I haven't gotten my deposit back yet! And the machine was confiscated too. I lost both my money and the machine!"
"Let's settle the score with him!"
On Wednesday evening, eight former agents, who had just been disciplined and were seething with anger, blocked Zhou Yang, who looked haggard, downstairs at the dormitory.
They dared not make another move, but the angry gazes and the demands for "return the money" and "give me an explanation" were even more difficult for Zhou Yang to handle than fists.
He stammered, his face ashen, and could only repeat "I'll figure something out" and "Wait for my dad..." which only earned him more intense accusations and insults.
Finally, amidst a chorus of urging him to "pay back the money quickly," he fled back to his dormitory in a disheveled state, slammed the door shut, and hid inside, too afraid to go out.
Betrayal by all, this is the worst that can happen.
On Thursday morning, the bulletin board in front of the administration building of Xichuan University of Technology was crowded with students.
A disciplinary notice bearing the school's official red seal and using strong language was posted in the most conspicuous position:
Decision on Probation for Zhou Yang, a student from the Class of 2001 of the School of Computer Science and Technology
Xichuan University of Technology Document No. [2004] 004
To all colleges and departments:
An investigation revealed that Zhou Yang, a student from the 2001 class of the School of Computer Science and Technology at our university, recently organized the sale of electronic products suspected of infringing on the copyrights of others on campus and attempted to assault others.
The facts are clear and the evidence is conclusive. His actions have seriously violated relevant national laws and regulations as well as the relevant provisions of the "Disciplinary Regulations for Students of Xichuan University of Technology", damaged the legitimate rights and interests of others, disrupted the normal order of the campus, and caused extremely negative impacts.
What is particularly serious is that, during the college's investigation and handling of this matter, the student not only failed to recognize his own mistakes, but also broke into the school's entrepreneurship incubation base on the afternoon of March 2, verbally threatened the students who reported his problems, and attempted to commit violence (unsuccessfully).
The act was egregious, severely disrupted campus management, threatened the personal safety of others, and caused great damage to the school's reputation.
In view of Zhou Yang's above-mentioned violations of laws and regulations, in order to uphold school discipline, educate himself, and warn all students, in accordance with Article 7, Paragraph 5 and Article 8, Paragraph 1 of the "Regulations on Disciplinary Actions for Students of Xichuan University of Technology", after research by the Student Affairs Guidance Committee and deliberation and approval by the President's Office, it was decided to give Zhou Yang a "probationary period" of 12 months.
The observation period shall be calculated from the date of issuance of this decision.
During the observation period, all awards and honors, as well as applications for scholarships, grants, and postgraduate admission, will be cancelled; the student will be prohibited from holding any student leadership positions; and the student will be prohibited from participating in any on-campus commercial activities or applying for work-study positions.
If any illegal or disciplinary violations are committed during the observation period, the student will be expelled from the school.
We hope that he will deeply reflect on his mistakes, learn from them, and correct them.
We hope that all students will take this as a warning, consciously abide by national laws and regulations as well as school rules and regulations, uphold academic ethics and civic morality, enhance their awareness of the rule of law and integrity, and jointly maintain a good campus order and learning environment.

"Probationary period!" a student shouted, causing a stir among the students.
In universities, being placed on probation is the second most serious disciplinary action after expulsion. It will be clearly recorded in the student's file and will follow them for life.
At almost the same time, Zhou Kun also received a document delivered by postal express at the Innovation Digital Store.
It was a package from the Dongcheng District People's Court of Chengdu City. He nervously opened it; inside were a copy of the complaint and a notice of appearance.
Plaintiffs Tang Lei and Lin Feng, represented by attorney Zheng Guodong. Defendant Zhou Kun (Innovation Digital Business Department).
The plaintiff requests that the defendant cease the infringement, issue a public apology, and pay damages for economic losses and reasonable expenses totaling RMB 200,000.
"Two hundred thousand..." Zhou Kun's vision went black, and he collapsed onto the cold tile floor.
The 50,000 yuan fine from the industry and commerce bureau is still pending, and now the 200,000 yuan from the court has arrived.
The store's goods were confiscated, the cash was almost all gone, the son received a disciplinary warning at school, and his academic record was ruined...
The atmosphere is completely different in Room 207 of the Startup Incubation Center and in Fengchi Digital Studio.
Wang Peng returned from outside: "The school's disciplinary notice has been posted. Zhou Yang has been placed on probation and all his qualifications have been revoked. This is truly gratifying!"
Lin Feng didn't seem particularly happy; he simply said, "He only has himself to blame."
Xu Qiang, standing to the side, laughed with great satisfaction: "Now, Zhou Yang is completely disgraced at school. I heard his 'agents' all got warnings and are scrambling to get their money back from him."
He chose his own path. When he misused his intelligence, when he lost respect for rules and bottom lines, the outcome was already predetermined.
"Alright," Lin Feng assigned tasks, "Zhou Yang's matter is settled for now. We'll leave the rest to the lawyers. Let's get back to business: the promotion of 'Mice Love Rice' and the ringback tone business need another push!"
The next day, newly made, beautifully designed posters were displayed on bulletin boards throughout Xichuan University of Technology.
The main image on the poster is of Yang Chengang holding a guitar and smiling brightly, against the backdrop of the school auditorium stage's dazzling lights, with a line of eye-catching text above:
"The 'Mice Love Rice' ringtone craze is here!"
Below is a detailed list of China Mobile's ringback tone download methods and pricing, as well as promotional information for genuine campus music jointly branded by Xunji Audio and Fengchi Digital.
The students gathered in front of the poster, discussing it animatedly.
"That's the song! My roommates hum it every day!"
"A ringback tone? How do you get one? Is it expensive?"
"Just send a text message."
"Look here, send 'LSADM' to 10086, I tried it, it works, it costs 2 yuan."
