Chapter 328 Ch 331: Situation of the City of Swevna

Kitana first told Rein and his group about how the city was governed. The current governor of the city was lazy and was only willing to do bare minimum work to keep the reputation of the city intact.

For that reason, most of the problems of the city were just supressed instead of being solved. The current governor had only a few years left in his duty as he was getting old, so he just did not care about the city anymore.

The people who were effected most by this were the people of the slums, whose living conditions had gone from bad to worse. But no one amongst the higher ups of the city cared about them at all.

Actually there were no slums in the city of Swevna just a decade ago. But the current governor had created this as an area to dump all the problematic individuals of the city who were troublesome to deal with.

With his intention of maintaining the outer beautiful look of the city, the governor forced all the people who were unable to maintain a certain life standard to live in the slum area. But they were not the only ones who were sent to the slums. A large number of criminals were also sent there.

With the criminals living alongside them, the life of the people who were sent to the slums became extremely harsh. As there were almost no guards to maintain the order of the slum area, it became a lawless land where the criminals ran amok.

A few of the proper citizen were distressed by this situation as many of their acquaintances were also sent to the slums. Petitioning to the city council was also useless. Those people created an organisation called the "Serenity Peace" and in just a month, they were able to improve the condition of the slum area immensely. But the current governor was extremely dissatisfied with the Serenity Peace as he felt like the organisation was going against his authority.

But even with the city council's immense power, they were not able to completely destroy the Serenity Peace because of the presence of the mages. With mages involved, the whole thing became very complicated.

Kitana was marked by one of the mages so as soon as she came out of the hidden base, she was attacked. Somehow she managed to destroy the marking that was tracking her and managed to run away from her attackers but she was badly hurt and was on the verge of death. If Rein and Luna had not used their magic to heal her, she would have definitely died.

After hearing about this, Luna was quite displeased. She had heard a lot of good things about this beautiful city but this lazy governor was destroying that. If mages fought here, then the city would suffer a lot of damages without any doubt.

As for Rein he was worried about a different thing. The documents Kitana had stolen were kept in the magic association. So there was a high chance that the letter that Rein and his team needed to transfer was included in that.

When Rein asked Kitana about it, she told him that as she had no idea how the petition was supposed to look like so she ended up taking away all the important looking documents that she could find. Hearing this Rein was almost 100 percent certain that the letter he needed to transfer was included in the things Kitana had stolen.

When Rein told Luna and Lopas about his speculation, they were also sure that what Rein was thinking was true. Seeing this, Luna suggested that instead of being passive and failing this mission, they should just resolve the whole situation.

As the city was under the royal rule, Luna had a say in the governance of the city as an active member of the royal family. So with her confronting the lazy governor, there was a high chance that they could reach a peaceful solution.

Rein was also fine with that and soon they started to make a plan. They also told Kitana and Koya about their true identity and added them in the plan making process.

Just like this, this short vacation suddenly turned into something big for Rein, Lopas and Luna.
