The Daily Life of the Demon King

Chapter 720 - 719: The Battle for the Last Slice.

Chapter 720 - 719: The Battle for the Last Slice.

From the moment Alice, Enid, and Doll returned from London, dragging with them a whole mountain of boxes filled with documents, ancient books, and various records, the bunker began to turn into a real corporate office. Just the sheer quantity of this mountain of boxes caused Alex, Dean, and Sam to have headaches. On the first day, they managed to check about ten boxes with documents, books, and various records. This took them the rest of the day. The only one who helped at all with this work was Doll, who quietly sat next to Alex, assisting him in sorting the documents. And the only one who pretended to help was Crowley, who merely drank whiskey and endlessly muttered, trying to drag everyone into conversation.

The reason Crowley did not retreat to his little room was that his mother Rowena had been settled in with him. These two hated each other to such a degree that they had repeatedly tried to kill one another. And since Crowley hated spending time in his mother's company, he found an alternative — getting on the nerves of Alex, Dean, and Sam.

Closer to evening, Rowena herself appeared, curious about what was happening in the bunker and why Crowley had disappeared somewhere. Seeing what was going on in the library, Rowena did not hold back her sarcastic remarks directed at Crowley. And before she could get her hands on several books lying in one of the boxes, Sam noticed this and drove Rowena away.

The girls, under various pretexts, refused this kind of activity, citing their busyness. Lucina and Samantha said they would help Alice and Enid pack souvenirs and send them to their families, and, taking Alex's Impala, they drove to the post office. Wednesday said nothing and simply left, with a direct hint that she was not going to play the role of a corporate slave.

Only by dinnertime did Alex, Dean, and Sam take a short break to eat before continuing the work. Returning to the library after dinner, they saw that Crowley had fled, unwilling to deal with the documents, taking with him an entire bottle of whiskey. Without commenting on this in any way, Alex, Dean, and Sam returned to work to finish what they had already started.

After several mugs of coffee to avoid falling asleep, late night arrived. Dean sat at the table, rubbing his eyes and trying not to doze off. The same applied to Sam. Feeling a headache and drowsiness, Dean and Sam looked at the remaining number of boxes, inside which there might be a single clue about where to find another Hand of God, and both felt only exhaustion.

Finishing another box closer to two o'clock in the morning, Alex suggested going to sleep and continuing in the morning. Dean and Sam agreed, and, rubbing their backs from sitting on the chair for so long, they headed to their rooms. Watching Dean and Sam leave, Alex looked at the remaining boxes and thought about continuing to work. After all, he still didn't feel tired.

But as soon as this thought flashed through Alex's head, long black hair slipped out from his shadow, instantly wrapping around him and turning him into a black cocoon. Before Alex could understand what was happening, he was already being dragged down the bunker corridor to the room he shared with the girls. A moment later, Alex was already lying in bed with a direct hint that it was time for him to sleep. Sighing, Alex hugged Enid, who immediately pressed herself against him.

With the arrival of morning, Alex woke up and got out of bed while Enid was hugging him in her sleep like an octopus. Paying no attention to Enid, who was still sleeping, Alex began to wash up. Only toward the end of the process did Enid open her eyes and sleepily blink, sliding off Alex. Realizing she was in the bathroom, Enid just yawned and began her usual female morning routines.

While the girls were waking up, Alex went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. Entering the kitchen, Alex met Dean and Sam, who looked as if they hadn't slept at all, and the hell of documents, books, records, and diaries awaited them again. Nodding to Dean and Sam, Alex began preparing breakfast for the girls and his daughter. After finishing cooking, Alex sat down at the table with Dean and Sam, placing a plate of sandwiches and coffee in front of himself.

"How did you sleep?" Alex asked, biting into a sandwich and looking at Dean and Sam.

"I had a nightmare… It was horrible," Dean said, rubbing his face to shake off the remnants of sleep.

"And what did you dream about?" Alex asked with interest, taking a sip of coffee and not taking his eyes off Dean.

"I dreamed that I became office plankton and worked without weekends or vacations… And Amara was my evil boss," Dean said in a tired tone, not realizing he had said more than he wanted.

Hearing what Dean said, Alex and Sam choked on their coffee and started coughing. Dean, however, paid no attention to what he had said and continued rubbing his face to wake up. Stopping coughing, Alex wiped the coffee from his mouth and looked at Dean, who continued to talk about his nighttime nightmare where he played the role of corporate plankton.

At that moment, Alex wasn't sure whether Dean had really had a nightmare. Or whether Amara had simply decided to laugh at Dean by making his dream like that. But the more Dean told, the harder it was for Alex to hold back his laughter.

Sam's face at that moment expressed only shock and slight disgust. Sam's disgust was not because Dean had once again dreamed of Amara, but because of the context in which this dream took place. Alex and Sam exchanged glances, then shifted their gaze to Dean, who by this point had finished recounting how his dream ended.

"Dude… Stop watching porn before bed…" Sam said, looking at his brother with a tired gaze.

"I didn't watch any porn. I fell asleep instantly after returning to the room… All this nonsense with documents exhausted me more than hunting," Dean said in an irritated tone, raising his gaze to Sam.

"What are you talking about?" Enid's cheerful voice sounded as she entered the kitchen.

Alex, Dean, and Sam turned their heads and saw the girls entering the kitchen, along with Alessa, who was trying to wake up while being held in Doll's arms. Dean looked at Alex and Sam with a gaze that directly said that if they blabbed about what they had just been talking about, his revenge would be terrible.

Alex gave Dean a blank look and turned to the girls, explaining that they were discussing what they had been doing yesterday. The girls, of course, noticed Alex's blatant lie, but did not comment on it. However, Alice and Enid looked at Dean with amused glances, as they had very sharp hearing thanks to their nature.

And both of them, of course, had heard Dean telling about his dream, which he called a nightmare. Dean ignored these glances and, after finishing his coffee, simply left the kitchen. After finishing his coffee, Sam also followed Dean to continue the search for traces of the Hand of God that they had begun the day before. Enid and Alice exchanged smiles, wanting to share with the other girls the fresh gossip they had overheard.

"No," Alex said, getting up from the table after finishing his coffee.

"But we haven't said anything yet," Enid objected, pointing at herself and Alice and looking at Alex with an offended expression.

"Not in front of Alessa, you queen of gossip," Alex said, pinching Enid's nose and nodding his head toward Alessa.

Enid looked at Alessa and covered her mouth with her hand, realizing she had almost started telling what she had heard. Alessa merely raised her gaze to one of her mothers, making it clear that she was not interested in listening to various gossip. After finishing her breakfast, Alessa jumped off the chair, grabbing Thing, placing him on her head, and left the kitchen.

Thing, sitting on Alessa's head, merely stood on his hand, raising his thumb and showing that he would look after Alessa. When Alessa left, Enid and Alice could no longer restrain themselves from sharing what they had heard. Shaking his head, Alex loaded the dishes into the dishwasher and left the kitchen, leaving the girls behind. Entering the library, Alex looked at Dean with a smirk.

"If you're done laughing, then sit down and help," Dean said, pointing to the mountain of boxes.

"So uninteresting. I expected you to be more irritated," Alex said, rolling his eyes and sitting down at the table.

"Do I look like a pubescent teenager who is embarrassed to talk about his indecent dreams?" Dean replied, looking mockingly at Alex.

"You look like a forty-year-old teenager who has forgotten what shame is," Sam said, giving Dean a smirk.

"Well… Maybe you're right. I won't argue with that. And don't forget that we have Death sitting here, pretending to be a teenager," Dean said, lazily shrugging his shoulders and nodding toward Alex.

"You want to fight?… Because it seems to me you're asking for a fight. You want to find out whose kung fu is stronger?" Alex said, narrowing his eyes and pointing a finger at Dean.

"Ha… So you're going to challenge me? Finally, a worthy opponent has appeared. Our battle will be legendary," Dean said, abruptly standing up from the chair and pointing a finger at Alex.

Alex slowly rose from the chair and looked at Dean with a smirk on his face. Alex and Dean looked at each other with faces as if they were really about to start fighting. Sam watched all this with an indifferent expression. Sam pinched the bridge of his nose, asking himself the simple question of why his brother had started quoting a villain from the Kung Fu Panda cartoon.

Alex and Dean continued to look at each other with serious gazes, and a moment later their lips began to tremble. Alex and Dean burst into loud laughter at such absurdity. Stopping laughing, Alex and Dean finally got into a working mood, but already in a much better one. Sam sighed once again and also laughed along with Alex and Dean.

In a good mood, Alex, Dean, and Sam began reviewing the documents and books much faster, setting aside anything that had even the slightest hint of the information they needed and putting aside what was useless.

Very quickly, Alex, Dean, and Sam finished the first boxes of documents for the day and, after a short coffee break, returned to work. From time to time, the girls came into the library to see how the process was going and to provide a little help. When lunchtime came, Lucina and Enid came to the library carrying several boxes of pizza.

"Pizza for lunch today, I like that. Otherwise, I was already feeling like I was about to pass out from hunger," Dean said, grabbing a box of pizza just for himself.

"Dean, this is for everyone, not just you," Lucina said, carefully placing the pizza boxes on the table.

Dean just shrugged and began eating the pizza, paying no attention to everyone else. Alex took the pizza boxes from Enid and placed them on the table. Sam also decided to help and went for drinks. While Dean continued eating, ignoring the others, the rest of the girls came to the library to have a snack.

While eating pizza, Dean began to choke, but no one rushed to help him, not forgetting to remind him what greed leads to. Sam, who had returned with the drinks, slapped his brother on the back and handed him a beer. After clearing his throat, Dean took a sip of beer and continued eating pizza again, as if it wasn't him who had almost died from a piece of pizza.

Alex calmly sat down at the table and placed Alessa on his lap so she would be more comfortable. Eating pizza while talking with the girls, Alex and Sam told them what they had managed to find in the small pile of boxes they had already sorted through.

Time passed very quickly during the conversation and eating pizza, and only one piece of pizza remained. Alex reached for the last piece, and when his hand almost touched the last slice, Dean also laid claim to it.

"Dean, this piece is mine… Don't even think about reaching for it with your hands," Alex said, narrowing his eyes at Dean.

"No way. The last piece of this meat pizza is mine," Dean said, narrowing his eyes back at Alex.

Alex and Dean grabbed the edge of the box with the last piece of pizza and began pulling it toward themselves. Seeing what was happening, Alessa quickly jumped off Alex's lap and moved to Doll's lap. Realizing where this was leading, the girls turned on their chairs with interest, waiting for the upcoming show.

Enid even took out her phone to record everything. Continuing to pull the box with the last piece of pizza toward themselves, Alex and Dean were not going to back down in this situation and even stood up from their seats. Alex and Dean wanted this last piece of pizza because they believed in the simple truth that the last piece is always the tastiest.

"You're not taking it from me!" Dean said in a loud voice, firmly gripping the edge of the pizza box.

"Your anger and hunger have taken it from you… You allowed the feeling of hunger to cloud your mind… And now… Now you have become what you swore to destroy," Alex said in a serious voice, gripping the other edge of the pizza box.

Alex and Dean continued to look at each other. Sharply pulling the pizza box toward themselves, they tore it apart, and the last piece of pizza flew into the air, then fell onto another box lying on the table. Alex and Dean did not move from their places, continuing to look at each other. Alex and Dean began circling each other without taking their eyes off one another.

Alice, being the fastest, instantly returned with a large bucket of popcorn, not wanting to miss a single moment of what was happening before her eyes. Even Sam watched what was happening with interest. Stopping, Alex and Dean simultaneously looked at the last piece of pizza and met each other's gazes again.

"Don't lecture me, my brother… I see right through liars like you. I am not you, and I do not fear hunger… I have brought peace, freedom, and justice! And I deserve to eat this piece of pizza of mine," Dean said, staring intently at Alex.

"Your piece?!" Alex asked angrily, responding to Dean's gaze.

"Don't force me to raise a weapon against you, brother!" Dean said in a serious tone, putting his hand behind his back and looking at Alex with determination in his eyes.

"Dean, I swore to always protect and safeguard my family! Don't force me to raise a weapon against you!" Alex said, pulling a folding baton from his pocket.

"If you stand in my way… then you are my enemy," Dean said in a hoarse voice, slightly cracking his neck and staring intently at Alex.

"Only those who stand on the dark side think only of their hunger… And I will fulfill my duty," Alex said, gripping the folding baton tighter in his hands.

"Well, try it," Dean said in a cold tone, slightly cracking his neck and staring intently at Alex.

As soon as Dean finished speaking, he sharply jerked his hand, unfolding the folding baton with a characteristic sound. Alex also jerked his hand, and the folding baton in his hands clicked. Alex and Dean continued to look at each other, and the tension between them grew stronger, as if at any moment one of them would attack first.

The girls and Sam, who were watching this, felt the tension building in the air, as if a great battle was about to begin at any moment. Sam did not understand what was happening, but did not even try to stop Alex and Dean, wanting to know where it would lead.

Enid held the phone in one hand, recording everything that was happening, and with the other hand grabbed popcorn from the bucket that Alice had brought. Lucina, with amusement, continued to enjoy what was happening before her eyes. Wednesday merely watched all this with a bored gaze, sipping her coffee.

But the one who understood what was happening least of all was Doll, who could not understand why it had all started because of some piece of pizza. But Alessa helped her mother Doll by explaining that her father and uncle were simply two stupid adults. But even this answer did not fully help Doll understand the situation.

By this point, the tension between Dean and Alex had reached its peak. Squeezing the folding batons in their hands, Alex and Dean looked at the last piece of pizza. And as soon as Alex's gaze fell on the last piece of pizza, Dean decided to attack suddenly. Swinging the folding baton, Dean delivered the first blow.

Alex sharply turned his head and blocked the blow. Dean continued to press to force Alex to retreat. Alex narrowed his eyes and sharply pushed Dean back, forcing him to take a step backward. As soon as Dean retreated, Alex attacked. Dean raised the baton above his head, blocking Alex's blow, and looked him in the eyes.

Pushing each other away, Alex and Dean began to fight, exchanging quick blows, moving around the library, and continuing to block each other's strikes. The spectators in the form of the girls and Sam watched this battle with tension, as if a scene from a movie was unfolding before them.

Blocking another of Alex's blows, Dean quickly raised his leg and kicked him in the chest. Alex dodged Dean's kick, spinning in place and delivering a sweeping blow. Dean raised the folding baton to neck level, blocking Alex's blow. Dean slightly tilted his folding baton, parrying Alex's strike.

Alex's folding baton slipped downward, opening a window for attack, which Dean instantly took advantage of. Alex sharply jerked his head to the side, dodging a blow to the face. Before Dean could pull the folding baton back, Alex delivered a quick upward blow to Dean's baton. From such a blow, Dean's hand jerked upward, and Alex immediately struck him with a kick to the chest, forcing Dean to retreat. Dean took several steps back, grabbing his chest.

"And this is all your strength, brother?!" Dean said, shaking dust off his chest.

"We've only just begun, brother. And I will stop you, as it was foretold," Alex said, pointing the folding baton at Dean.

"Then show everything you're capable of. Otherwise, this victory will be mine!" Dean said with a smirk on his face, taking a combat stance.

Alex gripped the folding baton tighter in his hands and instantly appeared in front of Dean, delivering a blow. Dean delivered a sweeping blow, deflecting Alex's strike. Every blow from Alex and Dean caused a characteristic clang of colliding metal. Alex and Dean began exchanging quick blows again, moving around the library and even climbing onto the table.

With every blow, the table under Alex's and Dean's feet began to shake, as if it would soon break under their weight. At this sound of battle, GIR, MIMI, and Stitch came running, who had been playing in their room and heard the suspicious noise. Running into the main hall, GIR, MIMI, and Stitch simultaneously tilted their heads to the side, looking at Alex and Dean, who were fighting while standing on the table.

Exchanging glances, the trio shifted their gaze to the girls, trying to understand what was happening. Enid noticed the trio and waved her hand at them, showing that they should come over and not interfere. GIR, MIMI, and Stitch shrugged and quickly ran up to the girls, getting out their snacks.

Alex and Dean skillfully balanced on the shaking table, continuing to exchange blows, completely ignoring the fact that the table could break or tip over at any moment. At that moment, they were only concerned with the fact that the winner would get the last piece of pizza.

Blocking another of Alex's blows, Dean jumped up and spun in the air, ending up behind Alex's back. Landing, Dean immediately delivered a quick downward blow, aiming at the back of Alex's head. Without turning his head, Alex blocked Dean's blow. After blocking the blow, Alex kicked backward, aiming at Dean's stomach.

Dean managed to put the folding baton in front of himself, blocking Alex's kick. But Dean still slid backward across the table after Alex's kick. Stopping sliding, Dean halted exactly at the edge of the table and straightened up. Alex and Dean looked at each other, and the table under their feet was already covered in cracks and ready to break at any moment.

"I was a bad brother for not noticing your hunger. I'm a bad brother," Alex said in a sad tone with sadness in his eyes, looking at Dean.

"How did I not realize that you were planning a coup!" Dean said in an angry tone, pointing the folding baton at Alex.

"There was no coup, Dean. Hunger is still clouding your mind. There are no villains here!" Alex shouted in response to Dean's accusations.

"In my opinion, you are the villain!" Dean said in an angry tone, unwilling to retreat.

"Then you are doomed!" Alex shouted back, looking at Dean.

Alex raised the folding baton and took a different stance. Alex's legs were spread wide, his torso slightly tilted forward, the hand gripping the folding baton was pulled back, and the tip of the baton was pointed at Dean. Seeing this, Dean narrowed his eyes and realized that Alex was ready to fight seriously for the last piece of meat pizza.

But Dean was not going to retreat either. Dean extended the arm holding the folding baton forward, holding it like a sword, and pulled the other hand back, spreading his legs shoulder-width apart and slightly crouching. Alex and Dean met each other's gazes and immediately rushed at one another, starting to exchange blows again.

The spectators in the form of the girls, Sam, and the noisy trio of GIR, MIMI, and Stitch continued to watch Alex and Dean's battle with interest, which had begun because of the last piece of pizza. Enid did not stop filming everything on video to post it on her channel later, while Alice acted as a commentator to make the scene more exciting.

And if Wednesday had been more involved instead of watching with a bored expression, Alice and Enid would have made her play the cello to make the battle scene even more epic. Lucina, with amusement, continued to enjoy what was happening before her eyes.

"Maybe we should stop these two before they break something else?" Sam asked with doubt in his voice, pointing at the fighting Alex and Dean.

"Not now. This should be that very final scene from Star Wars. I have to film this," Enid said, brushing off Sam's words with a wide smile and squeezing the phone in her hands, continuing to record the video.

"So it wasn't just me who thought the whole thing looked like a scene from Star Wars," Sam said, turning his head back to Alex and Dean.

"And that's why it's ten times funnier. Compared to if they had just fought like kids over the last piece of pizza," Alice said, giggling slightly and nodding.

The girls nodded in agreement, except for Wednesday, who was ready to call the loser a failure, and Doll, who did not understand what movie they were talking about and why Alex and Dean were acting out a scene from a movie while fighting over a piece of food. By this point, Alex and Dean's battle had practically reached its climax. Because of their fight, the table became covered with even more cracks and split into two parts.

After another exchange of blows, the half of the table on which Dean was standing finally broke. And before the half of the table fell to the floor, Dean jumped, leaping onto Alex's half of the table. Starting to fight very close to each other, Alex and Dean began using their fists to hit each other in the face.

At that moment, it was no longer a battle for the last piece of pizza — for them it had already become personal, and they were going to finish this battle. Dodging another blow to the face, Alex stomped his foot on the almost destroyed half of the table. From Alex's blow, the remains of the table made a quiet crack. And a moment later, the remaining half of the table finally broke.

Alex pushed Dean away from himself and jumped onto another table where the others were sitting. Dean fell to the floor, not having time to react. Falling to the floor, Dean hit his back, but very quickly got up and looked at Alex. Alex stood on the other table and looked down at Dean from above, squeezing the folding iron baton in his hands.

"It's over, Dean!… I stand above you!" Alex said, spreading his arms to the sides and looking at Dean with a smirk on his face.

"You underestimate my power!" Dean said in a hoarse tone, looking straight into Alex's eyes.

"Don't even try… You know how this will end!" Alex said, pointing the folding baton at Dean.

"I know, it will end with your defeat and my victory!" Dean said, slightly crouching.

When Alex and Dean's words sounded, Alice literally grabbed Enid's shoulders and began shaking her. Enid at that moment tried to hold the phone steady to record everything perfectly. After all, the moment of the battle's climax had almost arrived, and Enid wanted to record it without interference.

Everyone held their breath, waiting to see how it would unfold next. Would Dean be able to repeat that jump from the movie, or would everything be different and Dean would be able to win. At that moment, the tension in the library continued to grow, and everyone was interested in how it would end.

Not only those who were in the library were watching Alex and Dean, but also Alex's entire family, including Nyan-Nyan and Yog, who were in the Chaos realm. Amara was watching Dean, who had taken a short break from torturing Lucifer, wanting to know what Dean was busy with.

Dean narrowed his eyes, preparing to repeat Anakin's final jump, but unlike Anakin, Dean was going to win. Preparing to jump, Dean crouched, and at the moment of the jump he tripped on a broken table leg and lost his balance. Tripping, Dean began to fall forward and hit his chin on the edge of the table where Alex was standing.

There was a crash from Dean's fall as he fell flat face-first onto the floor. Alex froze in place, barely managing to stay in character. A long silence hung in the library because at the very last moment everything had been ruined. Not wanting it to end like this, Alex returned to his character and looked at Dean, who was lying on the floor.

"You were the Chosen One! They prophesied that you would defeat the Dark Side, not join it! Restore balance to the Force! Not plunge the world into darkness!" Alex shouted loudly, giving Dean time to come to his senses so they could continue.

Dean, lying flat on the floor, felt dizzy from hitting his chin on the edge of the table. And Alex's loud voice instantly brought Dean to his senses. Feeling strong dizziness, Dean began trying to get up, but his hands slipped, and he fell back onto the floor again, as if he had really lost his limbs. With difficulty raising his gaze, Dean met Alex's sad look and realized that he should play along to the end, otherwise everything would be in vain.

"I hate you!… I hate you!" Dean hissed through clenched teeth, still trying to get up.

"You were my brother, Dean!… I loved you!" Alex shouted in a sad voice, looking down at Dean from above.

After Alex's words, Dean gave Alex another angry look and then finally fell onto the floor, no longer trying to get up. At that moment, Enid and Alice, wiping tears from their eyes, began to applaud such a wonderful performance, throwing popcorn at Alex and Dean.

Sam covered his face with his hand, not knowing whether to laugh or start praising Alex and Dean for this. Lucina could no longer restrain herself and openly laughed at what had happened. GIR, MIMI, and Stitch whistled, throwing snacks toward Alex and Dean, expressing their praise. Jumping down from the table, Alex helped Dean get up. Dean rolled onto his back with a wide smile on his face, grabbing Alex's hand.

"That was just awesome. I filmed everything. This is pure gold!" Enid shouted, jumping onto Alex's back.

"Yeah, that was really funny. If only you hadn't staged a Star Wars battle over the last piece of pizza," Sam said, removing his hand from his face and holding back laughter.

"Where's the last piece?" Dean asked, looking around.

"Hey, that's my piece, I honestly won it," Alex said, elbowing Dean in the side, to which he just brushed it off.

"Stitch ate it," Alessa said, pointing at Stitch.

Alex and Dean looked at Stitch, who made the most innocent face, smiling widely and baring his teeth. Under the gaze of Alex and Dean, Stitch slid off the chair and began slowly backing toward the exit. And reaching the exit, Stitch immediately ran away, screaming. GIR and MIMI immediately ran after Stitch so as not to accidentally get caught in the crossfire, even if they weren't guilty.

Seeing how quickly the trio had fled, Alex and Dean exchanged glances with expressions of those who could not understand what all this had been for. Watching how the expressions on Alex's and Dean's faces changed, no one could restrain themselves any longer. Alice and Enid openly laughed at the two guys who had fought for nothing and ultimately lost.

Wednesday called Alex and Dean losers. And Doll wanted to comfort only Alex. Sighing simultaneously, Alex and Dean smiled crookedly and then also began to laugh. Perhaps none of them got the last piece of pizza, but at least they had fun instead of doing boring routine work.

To be continued...

(Here's a quick, casual chapter for you. I actually had this Star Wars-style Alex and Din battle planned from the start, I just couldn't find the right moment. But a fight over the last slice of pizza is just so Alex and Din-esque. I thought you'd enjoy something like that before we finally get to the big ending and all that. You know what I mean. You need a little normal, fun stuff in life to keep it from feeling so monotonous and boring. And I'm going to go eat. Peace, love, and these aren't the droids you're looking for.)
