Chapter 17 The Murderer
Chapter 17 The Murderer
Xia Xue walked out of the side door of the show venue and into the corridor, her pace returning to that of a normal person.
The closer Xia Xue got to the end of the corridor, to the public restroom opposite the back door, the calmer her gaze became.
"With my strength, killing the other person directly would be very easy. The problem is, what to do after the kill?"
Those who frequently commit murder know that killing is easy, but concealing the body is difficult.
In such a busy public place, how could such a large corpse be handled without any preparation?
"Moreover, even though I am clearly on the side of justice, if I impulsively kill someone, I become the side of evil."
Things can't be done this way.
Sensing the intermittent gazes from behind, Xia Xue glanced thoughtfully at the orange juice she was carrying and made up her mind.
Xia Xue ignored everyone and walked past the public toilet where the murderer was hiding, going straight through the back door and into the alley behind it.
At the end of the alley stood a trash can, and the air was filled with the smell of kitchen waste.
Xia Xue's eyes swept across the room and spotted a small mouse.
Everything is a palm, including the soles of the feet.
No need to aim, the pebble becomes a locust.
Xia Xue lightly tapped her toe, and a pebble flew out instantly, hitting the rat's belly.
The little mouse, like a fish about to die in the water, lay belly up on the concrete ground next to the trash can, emitting mournful "squeaks."
"Oh, poor little mouse."
Xia Xue covered her mouth with her hand and let out a gasp. She ran over and squatted down with heartache, looking at the weak, pitiful, and helpless little mouse.
"Don't cry, don't cry, I'll give you some orange juice."
As she spoke, Xia Xue tilted the water glass slightly and slowly poured out some orange juice, which fell into the little mouse's wailing mouth.
A few drops of orange juice went down its throat, and the little mouse quickly stopped howling.
Xia Xue let out a startled cry, pretending to be frightened. She stood up and backed away. The bodyguard who had been watching and protecting Xia Xue from a distance heard the sound and thought that Xia Xue was in danger, so he quickly ran over.
"Miss, are you alright?"
Xia Xue pointed in horror at the lifeless rat below and said in a trembling voice, "It...it's dead. It drank my orange juice."
The bodyguard initially dismissed it, assuming it was just a young girl's overflowing sympathy. But upon hearing the rest, he finally realized what was happening, his eyes instantly turning sharp. He quickly pressed the button on his earpiece and reported, "Miss Xue's orange juice has been poisoned. We request immediate backup."
Then, the bodyguard seemed to remember something and asked with concern, "Miss, did you drink orange juice? How much? Are you feeling unwell? Should we take you to the hospital?"
Xia Xue looked at the nervous bodyguard and quickly shook her head, saying, "I didn't drink it."
Upon hearing this, the bodyguard breathed a sigh of relief and pressed the earpiece again: "Miss Xue didn't drink orange juice, so there's no need to activate the rescue plan for now."
After the bodyguard finished his report, he seemed to remember something and quickly took the orange juice from Xia Xue's hand.
"Miss, I will arrange for someone to conduct tests immediately to determine what kind of toxin it is."
Xia Xue was more concerned with catching the culprit than with identifying the type of poison.
"The culprit who poisoned us is likely still in the building; you must catch him."
The bodyguard immediately reassured her, "Miss, please rest assured, we have secured all the exits and begun the investigation process. We will definitely find the poisoner."
The middle-aged man in gray, hiding in the public restroom, remained in the innermost stall, curled up like a patient hunter, quietly waiting for any movement outside to determine if his prey had fallen into the trap he had prepared in advance.
"Strange, it's been so long, why is there still no movement?"
If something happens to the Xia family's daughter, it will definitely cause quite a stir.
Disorder is inevitable at fashion shows.
However, he has yet to witness any riots at the show.
Suddenly, the middle-aged man in gray felt a sudden, inexplicable panic.
"Strange, I've never felt so uneasy during missions before, what's wrong with me today?"
The middle-aged man in gray's expression changed, as if he had thought of something.
"Damn it, I only glanced at her from that far away and she noticed me. This Xia Xue has such strong perception, she's probably not a simple person, she might even be a martial arts expert more skilled than me."
Since ancient times, medicine and martial arts have been inseparable. This method of poisoning might have a slight chance of success if the other party is not on guard. But what happened before has already alerted the enemy.
"If one is wary, this poison might..."
Thinking of this, the middle-aged man in gray's face instantly turned extremely ugly, and his anxiety was evident on his face.
"No, we can't wait any longer, we must evacuate immediately."
Just then, the bodyguards' investigation also reached this point.
The middle-aged man in gray finally confirmed his suspicions. Without the slightest hesitation, he used his superb acting skills to deceive the bodyguard and immediately left quickly via the escape route he had scouted beforehand.
Xia Xue glanced at the fleeting figure through the open window on the second floor, and as the bodyguard who had been guarding her looked away, she threw a pebble.
"what!"
The middle-aged man in gray was hit instantly.
He collapsed to the ground, and with his last ounce of consciousness, he rolled his eyes, searching for the stone that had ambushed him, only to find a lump of lime on the steps.
He immediately realized what was happening and glanced at the open window next to him with a shocked expression.
In the final moments before consciousness faded into slumber, four words were uttered from the depths of my heart.
"Grandmaster of Internal Energy!"
Just then, the smartwatch on his wrist emitted a sharp beeping sound. Three seconds later, the smartwatch emitted a puff of black smoke and became unusable.
The screams of the middle-aged man in gray were very noticeable to the bodyguards conducting the investigation. The nearest bodyguard immediately went to check and witnessed the smartwatch exploding. The bodyguard immediately realized what was happening and quickly pressed the button on his earpiece.
"Suspicious target detected! Suspicious target detected! Target is incapacitated! Target is incapacitated! I will proceed to investigate! I will proceed to investigate!"
As he spoke, he carefully moved to the side of the middle-aged man in gray clothes who was lying motionless on the ground. He first pressed on the man's carotid artery, then placed his hand on the man's chest. After confirming the situation repeatedly, he pressed the earpiece again.
"Preliminary confirmation: the target is dead. Requesting further instructions."
An instruction came through the earpiece.
"Protect the scene, remain vigilant, and pay attention to your own safety."
After the bodyguard replied "Yes," he immediately stood still and prevented others from passing by, protecting the scene to the greatest extent possible.
Xia Xue, who was playing the role of a frightened little girl in the back alley downstairs, twitched her ears and glanced up at the second-floor window.
"Dead?"
She deliberately controlled her strength, avoiding vital points, all in order to capture her opponent alive.
To find out who's behind this.
As a result, she went through so much trouble.
The murderer is dead.
A glint of light flashed in Xia Xue's eyes.
Murder to silence them?
The forces behind this murderer are likely quite formidable.
"What? Miss Xia Yao has also been drugged?"
The bodyguard could hardly believe his ears when he heard the synchronized information in his earpiece, and couldn't help but exclaim in surprise.
Where is Xia Yao?
Xia Xue's eyes instantly turned icy.
It was my fault that she was dragged into this.
The bodyguard lowered his head to confirm the information further. Xia Xue couldn't wait any longer. She twitched her ears and quickly scanned the area, already pinpointing Xia Yao's location. With each step she took, she left behind several afterimages. By the time the bodyguard looked up, she had already disappeared from the spot.
The bodyguard looked around, rubbed his eyes, and looked puzzled.
"How could Miss Xia Xue have disappeared in the blink of an eye?"
Realizing what was happening, they quickly reported it.
"Miss Xia Xue has gone to Miss Xia Yao's private rest room... Go there immediately, provide close protection, and remain vigilant."
I heard the instructions from the other end of the headset.
The bodyguard immediately shouted, "Yes, sir! Mission accomplished!"
