Chapter 151: The Realms & Artifacts
Chapter 151: The Realms & Artifacts
"I want you to come with me to the... Mermaid’s Flower Garden."
Junior’s voice was low. The name hung in the air between them, strange and unfamiliar.
Cael raised an eyebrow as he asked,
"Hm. So suddenly. Did you see a future vision?"
Junior shook his head. His blind eyes stared at nothing, but his expression was firm.
"No. But it will help us grow stronger and faster in the shortest time possible."
Cael paused. He did not answer immediately. The words settled into his mind, heavy with implication.
If the rewards were tempting enough, Cael would consider the proposal.
Cael was not worried about Junior getting revenge or giving false information. After all, Cael had made Junior his subordinate.
The mana contract bound him. He could not lie. He couldn’t try to harm his master. The consequences would be worse than death.
If the rewards were good, then that meant the journey was going to be just as dangerous. Nothing worthwhile came without cost.
Cael pondered for a moment before asking,
"Tell me about this Mermaid’s Garden."
Junior shook his head and corrected,
"It is Mermaid’s Flower Garden."
Cael gave a deadpan look. His violet eyes narrowed slightly.
"Does it even matter?"
Junior nodded with an affirmative tone.
"It does."
Cael grunted with a low scoff.
"Whatever. Just tell me the details."
Junior hesitated as his lips pressed into a thin line. Then he said,
"I don’t know. I only know where it is and that it will benefit us."
Cael did not even have the mood to argue anymore. He knew it was useless.
Junior was either hiding something or genuinely didn’t know.
Either way, pushing further would not help.
Then Cael asked,
"At least tell me what kind of benefits it will bring us."
Junior didn’t hesitate this time as he answered,
"It is a... realm."
Junior’s voice was quiet as he added,
"That answers your question, right?"
Cael’s eyes widened slightly. The word sent a ripple through his thoughts. A realm.
"You are sure it is a realm?"
Junior said with a serious tone,
"I am sure."
Then Junior paused and said,
"Let’s switch places. This is going to be a long talk."
...
A realm.
Just like dungeons, they were spaces where mana was dense, filled with various monsters and creatures.
But unlike dungeons, realms did not have a boss monster. A realm was an independent place directly in the world.
Meanwhile, dungeons were different. They existed on a totally different plane, and the only way to enter was through a dungeon portal.
Realms were extremely rare. In fact, ever since the birth of rankers, only three realms had been discovered.
Due to that rarity, the monsters living in them were old and dangerous. Centuries of existence had made them powerful and dangerous.
The mana density in a realm was five times higher than in dungeons. And dungeons were already ten times denser compared to the surface world.
Meaning, the Mana in a realm was fifty times denser compared to the surface world. The air itself would feel thick.
The pressure would be constant. Every breath would carry power.
But the main reason realms were sought after was not the dense mana. It was what lay inside.
An artifact.
Yes, every realm gave birth to a single artifact. A unique item of immense power, born from the realm itself.
No two artifacts were the same. No one knew how they were created. They simply appeared, waiting to be found.
Currently, in this world, there are only three artifacts. One was with humans. One was with wraiths. The final one was missing.
When the third realm was discovered by humans, the wraiths and vampires attacked.
If humans gained another artifact, the balance with the wraiths would be broken.
And the vampires wanted to gain their own artifact. During that time, the artifact vanished. No one knew its traces or how it disappeared.
Until now.
"Are you kidding me? You are the holder of that artifact?"
Cael had the urge to shout at Junior, but since the matter was big, he barely muttered. His voice was low, controlled, but the shock was evident.
Junior nodded.
"Yes. Its name is the Heavenly Book."
Cael felt a pang of jealousy when he heard Junior had simply stumbled upon it one day.
Junior then said with a serious tone,
"That aside, you can have the artifact in the realm."
Cael leaned back on his chair as he asked,
"Are you sure?"
Junior slowly explained,
"A person can only hold a single artifact."
Cael nodded.
The realm’s treasure would be Cael’s for the taking.
The Heavenly Book already belonged to Junior. Even if they found another artifact, Junior could not claim it.
"I see."
Cael’s mind was already racing ahead.
"But what do you gain in this journey?"
Junior did not hide his motives. His voice was steady, honest.
"The dense mana environment will help me progress my growth faster. We might stay in that realm for one or two months. There is a chance you may even become a [Platinum] ranker."
Cael did not rebut that statement.
"True."
The possibility was real. Months of training in an environment fifty times denser than the surface.
His mastery would skyrocket. His elements would evolve. His rank would climb.
Junior finally asked,
"So, are you in or not?"
Cael slowly stood up. The chair scraped against the floor.
He looked down at the blind boy who had once been his enemy, now his subordinate, now his partner in this strange venture.
"Is that even a question? Of course I am in."
After a few brief exchanges, Cael left Junior’s dorm room.
...
Cael arrived back at the hotel room.
According to his original plan, Cael should switch back places with the Wind Clone. But the plans had changed in a few minutes.
Now, the Wind Clone was going to take his role until he returned from the trip.
The realm was dangerous, yes. But Cael was not worried. If worst came to worst, he could just swap with his clone.
His body would be pulled to safety. It was the ultimate escape.
’Right. Junior will also be with me.’
’But it doesn’t matter either way. I can use Teleportation and Spatial Portal to take him away.’
’I should also take the Black Lightning Clone and Frostflame Clone with me. They can buy me time in times of extreme danger.’
Truth be told, with Cael’s current skills alone, he could rival a [Mythril] ranker. And with his clones supporting him, dealing with a [Mythril] monster would be relatively easy.
That meant, unless an [Adamant] or [Origin] monster attacked him, Cael would not be in extreme danger.
Unknowingly, Cael’s combat prowess already rivaled, or may have surpassed, Seraphina’s.
Of course, not on the scale of destruction. A [Mythril] ranker could level a city block with a single attack.
Cael could not. Not yet.
Thinking of the scale of destruction [Mythril] rankers could do, Cael shuddered.
’I still have a long way to go. But with my Mana Sovereignty, I can prevent them from using mana.’
But things would not always go as planned. He needed to be extremely careful against high stage rankers.
A moment of carelessness. A single mistake. That was all it would take.
So, Cael decided to get the artifact in the realm.
If the artifact was related to combat, his combat prowess would increase even further. If it were defensive, his survivability would soar.
Either way, it was worth the risk.
’Let’s hope for the best.’
As for the Grand Summit Trials, Cael decided to forget it.
The rewards from the Grand Summit Trials paled in comparison to an artifact.
Besides, the Wind Clone was not weak. Cael was sure the Wind Clone would be in the top ten.
And the Space Clone would help Wind clone from the dark. If any idiot tries to mess with the Wind Clone, the space clone will deal with them.
Backed by the Wind Clone’s cautious personality and the Space Clone’s hidden support, Cael was not worried at all.
...
Time passed. It was already the next day.
New sun rays marked a brand new day. The light streamed through the curtains, warm and golden. Dust motes floated in the beams, dancing lazily in the morning air.
After some time, Cael received a message from the Wind Clone.
Team Gray and the other teams, along with Seraphina, have left Arhal City on the plane.
Cael stood from the chair. He stretched his arms. He put away his mobile.
He walked to the window and looked out at the waking city. The streets were still quiet. The sky was clear. The sun was rising.
"It’s time for me to leave as well."
