Chapter 201: The True Final Boss (6)
Chapter 201: The True Final Boss (6)
Max tightened his grip on the handle of his hammer.
His shield remained raised in front of him.
And on the other side of the room stood the creature.
The monstrosity Will had become.
The black wings flapped erratically.
The caveman’s muscles contracted beneath gray skin covered in scars and metal plates.
Fragments of the android continued releasing tiny electrical sparks.
And the face...
The face barely resembled Vesper’s anymore.
Max swallowed.
Then he turned toward Thara.
"Thara."
The drow looked up.
"What?"
"Do you have one of those seals you said could send summons back to their own worlds?"
Thara’s eyes widened slightly.
Then she nodded.
"Yes. I’m almost certain I do."
Max felt a bit of relief.
"Perfect."
"I should be able to find it."
She said.
"I wrote it down in my notebook."
The drow immediately began flipping through pages.
Her fingers moved rapidly through notes.
Diagrams.
Experiments.
Formulas.
Decades of research gathered in one place.
Meanwhile, Max looked toward Dorian.
"Dorian."
The elf smiled.
"Yes?"
"I’m counting on you."
Dorian placed a hand over his chest.
"As you should."
Green energy appeared once again.
Flowing through Max’s body, strengthening and empowering him.
"You can always rely on Eldoria’s greatest healer."
Max laughed.
"So humble."
"It’s a difficult burden to bear."
Dorian replied with complete seriousness.
The situation might have been funny.
If not for the fact that the monster started moving.
A terrifying roar filled the entire room.
"RRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!"
The walls trembled, and the floor shook.
The creature took one step.
Then another, almost dragging itself.
Crashing into walls.
As if it didn’t even understand how its new body worked.
Every movement seemed painful.
But it continued advancing directly toward them.
Max took a deep breath.
"I’m going."
And he charged.
Dorian’s magic pushed every muscle in his body.
He gathered momentum.
Spun around.
And threw the hammer.
"Hey!"
The weapon shot forward.
Spinning at incredible speed.
And struck the beast directly in the head.
BOOOOM!
The impact echoed through the room.
The creature slowly turned.
Its eyes locked onto Max.
And it roared.
This time much louder.
"RRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!"
"Yeah."
Max said.
"I love you too."
The creature charged directly at him.
The ground shook beneath every step.
Max extended a hand.
His hammer came flying back.
He caught it.
And ran forward.
The two collided in the center of the room.
The enormous claws descended.
Max raised his shield.
CLANG!
The impact was brutal.
But this time Max didn’t just block.
He remembered something.
A lesson from Neros’s training.
The practice sessions with Moonlight.
The movements.
The exact timing.
And he performed a parry.
He deflected the claws to the side.
Just enough to create an opening.
"Now!"
The hammer slammed directly into the creature’s face.
CRAAASH!
The blow would have shattered any normal enemy.
But Will barely reacted.
His head moved slightly.
Nothing more.
Max’s eyes widened.
"What?"
The beast roared.
And kept attacking.
"That’s not fair."
The next second—
The enormous claws grabbed Max.
They wrapped around his torso, squeezing him and lifting him off the ground.
"Max!"
Thara shouted.
But the adamantine armor held.
Its effect absorbed the damage.
The claws couldn’t crush him.
But that wasn’t the problem...
He couldn’t escape.
"Well."
Max said while hanging in the air.
"This is awkward."
The beast flapped its wings, trying to take flight.
But something wasn’t working.
It was too heavy.
Too much muscle.
Too much metal.
Its wings could move it.
But only a few centimeters above the ground.
The fusion was imperfect.
Unstable.
And incredibly painful.
The creature roared in frustration.
And then Dorian appeared.
Running straight toward it.
"I’m coming!"
Max turned his head.
"What exactly are you planning to do?"
Dorian raised his hands.
"I don’t have my scalpel."
The elf smiled.
"Thanks to the caveman."
The creature roared.
Dorian kept running.
"But healers know other ways to open wounds."
Green energy covered his fingers.
His nails began to grow.
Longer.
Sharper.
More dangerous.
Until they became genuine claws of magical energy.
Max blinked.
"Since when can you do that?"
"Always."
Dorian replied.
"It’s just not very elegant or professional."
Then he jumped.
The green claws sliced through the air.
SLASH!
The creature let out a shriek.
Two of its massive fingers fell to the floor.
Then more.
And the claws holding Max opened.
"Yes!"
Max dropped.
Spun in the air.
And landed perfectly.
The creature screamed in pain.
"RRRAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!"
Then it raised both fists.
And brought them crashing down on them.
Max and Dorian reacted simultaneously.
They jumped in opposite directions.
BOOOOOM!
The floor exploded beneath the impact.
Chunks of stone flew everywhere.
The room shook again.
"Max!"
Thara’s voice echoed from behind.
The human turned.
The drow was holding up a page torn from her notebook.
"I found it!"
Max grinned.
"Perfect!"
He immediately ran toward her.
Thara handed him the page.
The drawing was complex.
Filled with symbols, runes, and magic circles.
"How does it work?"
Max asked.
Thara pointed to the seal.
"You have to complete the drawing."
Max nodded.
"Okay."
"And then place it on the target."
Max looked back at the paper.
And a slow smile appeared on his face.
Thara noticed.
"That smile worries me."
"I think I have a plan."
"That worries me even more."
Max ignored the comment.
He stored the seal.
And assessed the situation.
Will had stopped chasing him.
Now he was focused on Dorian.
The elf was running around the room.
Dodging attacks.
Jumping.
Shouting things like:
"You can’t catch this much beauty at once!"
And:
"Aim better!"
The creature became increasingly furious.
Max took a deep breath.
’Perfect.’
It was exactly what he needed.
He gathered momentum.
Raised his hammer again.
And threw it.
The weapon crossed the room.
And struck Will in the head.
CLANG!
The creature turned.
Its eyes immediately locked onto Max.
The human smiled.
And raised a hand.
"Hey!"
Will roared.
Max pointed at his own chest.
Then shouted at the top of his lungs.
"You ugly freak!"
The creature froze.
"Come and get me!"
