Chapter 51 Ninja Academy
Chapter 51 Ninja Academy
The opening ceremony in Konoha was even more boring than I had imagined.
After all the freshmen lined up on the playground, the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, began his lengthy speech. The Third Hokage's voice echoed across the playground, and the content was nothing more than the same old clichés as "where leaves dance, fire also burns eternally."
"...So, children, you are the future of Konoha..."
Naruto secretly yawned, glancing around out of the corner of his eye. Most of the children stood ramrod straight, looking up at the Third Hokage on the podium with adoration.
Just then, a commotion arose from the crowd.
"Look over there... that one with black hair..."
"Is she from the Uchiha clan? She's so cute..."
"Such beautiful eyes, like jewels..."
I want to be friends with her...
Naruto followed everyone's gaze and saw Satsuki. She was wearing a brand-new uniform today, her long black hair neatly tied back, and even among a group of children, her innate noble temperament stood out.
Naruto had almost forgotten about Sasuke's appearance—after all, they spent so much time together that he was used to his delicate little face. Only now did he remember that even with the gender changed, this guy was still undoubtedly the most handsome person in the ninja world.
However, the little girls who swooned over Sasuke in the original work have all turned into restless little boys.
When the lengthy speech on the Will of Fire finally ended, the new students filed into the ninja academy's lecture hall. Naruto casually found a seat, and Satsuki sat down next to him as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
"Hey, what's going on? Why is she sitting next to that monster?"
"Keep your voice down! Mom said he's the one who killed the Fourth Hokage..."
"We should stay away from him... Let's go and warn her."
A few ordinary children were whispering in the back of the classroom, but Naruto paid no attention to their gossip. Instead, he looked around at the familiar faces with great interest.
The chubby little boy eating potato chips, with a lazy pineapple-shaped head, wearing sunglasses and barely noticeable, smelling like a dog, with white eyes, pink fur, and blond fur...
With myself and this arrogant guy beside me, the Nine Little Strongmen are finally complete...
As Naruto was thinking this, he suddenly realized that the seat next to him was empty. He looked around the classroom and finally spotted Satsuki among the group of ordinary children at the back.
The boys who had been whispering just moments before were now blushing and staring blankly at the suddenly approaching Uchiha heiress. They nudged each other, their eyes gleaming with surprise—the aloof Uchiha heiress hadn't expected to take the initiative to speak to them!
However, Zuo Yue simply leaned down slightly and whispered a few words. The next second, the smiles on the boys' faces froze.
They seemed to have been doused with cold water; their expressions quickly changed from excitement to blankness, and finally they completely wilted, slumping dejectedly onto the table, having lost all fighting spirit.
Naruto watched as Satsuki nonchalantly returned to his seat and couldn't help but ask in a low voice, "Hey, what did you say to them?"
"...It's nothing, they're just so unpleasant...spreading rumors about others without any evidence."
"I don't really mind, but thank you anyway, Erzhuzi."
"Why don't you refute them? Also, don't call me Erzhuzi."
Satsuki's dark eyes widened, and her fair cheeks puffed out slightly. Although she was protesting, her tone carried an almost imperceptible softness.
It looked less like a protest and more like a pout.
As the saying goes, to judge the strength of a friendship, just see if you dare to give each other nicknames. Just as every boy wants to be his brother's "godfather," teasing each other is the highest level of friendship.
He'd accidentally blurted out that nickname once. Zuo Yue paused for a second, but wasn't really angry; she just protested in a soft voice, like she was now, "Don't call me Er Zhuzi."
Satsuki didn't mind Naruto giving him a nickname, but why was he called "Sasuke"?
A while later, a familiar figure appeared at the classroom door.
Iruka Umino walked in carrying a stack of textbooks. His gaze inadvertently met Naruto's, and he was clearly startled at first before looking away with a complicated expression.
"Quiet."
Iruka clapped his hands, and after the noise in the classroom subsided, he turned around and wrote his name on the blackboard.
"My name is Iruka Umino." He put down the chalk, dusted his hands, and gave a gentle smile. "From today onwards, I will be your teacher."
Sunlight streamed through the window and fell on his headband, casting a warm glow.
"I hope we can get along well in the future."
Sparse applause filled the classroom, and the self-introduction session officially began. Iruka looked down at the list in his hand and called out names one by one.
The first few names were not mentioned in the original work, until— "Next, Kiba Inuzuka."
A boy with spiky hair and face painted with face paint suddenly jumped onto the podium and shouted energetically.
"I'm Kiba Inuzuka! My favorite thing is dogs! My dream is to become Hokage and then have everyone in the village keep dogs!"
He grinned, revealing sharp teeth. Naruto instinctively looked up at the top of his head—it was empty; the little white ninja dog from his memory was nowhere to be seen.
Is Akamaru not born yet... or has he not adopted him yet?
"Next up, Nagatsuki Tatsuhira."
It was another name that didn't exist in the original work, but upon hearing it, Naruto felt a jolt of unease. For some reason, he suddenly felt very uncomfortable.
Standing on the podium was an ordinary-looking boy wearing glasses, who seemed unremarkable.
"My name is Nagatsuki Tatsuhei!" He pushed up his glasses, his voice suddenly becoming incredibly excited. "I like older sisters with silver hair, purple eyes, who aren't very bright and are a bit silly!"
With his unique hobbies, Naruto didn't know why he suddenly felt so annoyed with someone he had just met, and wanted to beat them up.
"Next up, Uchiha Satsuki."
As soon as Iruka finished speaking, a commotion broke out in the classroom. The little boys unconsciously straightened their backs, their eyes fixed on the podium.
A few of the bolder ones even secretly tidied their hair, trying to make themselves look more energetic—although such behavior was far too precocious for their age.
Are all the kids in the ninja world this precocious...? Naruto is too lazy to even comment on this setting anymore.
Satsuki walked gracefully to the podium, and after stopping, she said in a clear, cool voice, "My name is Uchiha Satsuki."
"My dream is to surpass my older sister and become a ninja that my clan can be proud of."
As she said this, her gaze unconsciously glanced in Naruto's direction before quickly looking away.
"My hobby is..."
A blush suddenly rose to Zuo Yue's cheeks, and her voice lowered slightly. "...I can't say."
This rare shy expression stunned the little boys in the audience. Zuo Yue quickly returned to her seat, her ears still flushed.
"Next up, Naruto Uzumaki."
Naruto lazily walked up to the podium. "My name is Uzumaki Naruto." His voice was gentle. "I like many things..."
As he spoke, his gaze swept across every face in the classroom—the chubby boy from the Akimichi family, the lazybones from the Nara family, the young lady from the Hyuga family… and finally settled on Satsuki.
"My dream is... that the world will not be destroyed."
This unexpected answer stunned Iruka. He was bewildered and couldn't understand why a six-year-old would have such a dream.
