Ch 74: Birthday [2]
Ch 74: Birthday [2]
Rey and James sat on the available seats while three others were occupied by other people.
As they began to prepare the noodles, they brought and savored the taste of each one they brought with it.
Someone eyes fell on them and the items they were eating. It was a girl whose eyes nearly popped out at seeing these two boys eating such expensive things without any special occasion.
"Hey Mira, look at those guys, I think they are some kind of rich heirs eating here to experience of people," Nina said to her friend, who was watching her phone.
"Huh, what are you talking about, Nina? You read too many novels to think that these high rich family brats would come to such normal and local stores to eat. Even if they ar..." Mira, who was looking at her phone, glanced at the area her friend pointed out.
She saw two guys eating the deluxe premium snacks they dreamt of eating one day, as if it were some cheap food.
"Now do you believe me?"
"Yesss... but before even looking at the food, can't you see both of them? That blondie over there is quite a charming prince, I would say, and even his friend, or whatever he is, is also above grade cutie."
Mira said as she began to imagine something which isn't appropriate to mention right now.
"Heh~~~heh~~~."
"Hey, come out of your pervy dreams. And what do you think? Should we try our chance to get close to such rich kids?"
"Yes, let's try it, as no one will reject us, right? You take that blondie and I'll take that cutie."
Mira said as she and her friend started to walk toward them just as they were about to start eating.
"Umm~~~ hello, are you guys new here?" She asked while tucking her hair as she bent a to show a cute side of her to make a strong first impression.
"Oh yes, we are new here, I guess," James said as it was really their first time coming here.... after high school.
"Oh, that's great, as we do too. Would you like to eat together?" Nina said as she introduced herself.
"Ah yes, name is Nina and this is my friend Mira. We are both new to this area as well."@@@@
"And my name is James, and this fellow here is my friend Rey," James said as he pointed to him.
As he and James began to walk away after disposing of the trash, Rey asked James to wait outside while he went into the store to buy that sweet treat for Emmy and Jasmine that he liked so much.
After putting it away in his inventory, he walked out of the store and saw James talking with someone, his expression complicated.
He stopped by his side and began to listen. As he recognized the voice, he realized it was James's mother, whom he had seen and heard about in the news.
"James, I told you not to associate with those kids anymore. You didn't listen to a single word I said. Are you even my son who used to listen to everything I told you?"
"Mom, I told you that I was coming back after celebrating my friend's birthday, and nothing more. And please don't remind me of my past childhood life. It was a prison for me back then, and this life is what I need," James said, his best not to raise his voice.
"And you must be paying their bills after the party, right? I told you those kids are just after your money. Why didn't you listen to me? But now, I don't wish to hear anything. Just come back now, or we'll have to send someone to pick you up," she said with a domineering voice. James shut down, knowing that even if he told her Rey paid, she wouldn't believe him, so he just agreed.
"Okay, mom, I'm coming back, but don't send anyone to pick me up. I'll come back on my in a little while."
"Okay, but if late and don't reach home within an hour, be prepared for a serious lesson today," she said before hanging up. James closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
"What happened, bro? More trouble with your mom's anger issues?" Rey asked.
"Yes, brother, it's just the old habit of her coming home in an hour. Can't my mom be like other mothers I see around? Why go anywhere as see your mom, she is so sweet to you and your sister and never shouts at you both. I wish she could be like her."
"No brother, every single mother is the same as yours. Even though they get angry over our mistakes, their worry for us rises in one situation or another. Every parent cares for their children, whether they are kings and queens or normal citizens."
"Talking is great, but reality is not sugar-coated like that, brother. So, I have to leave now."
James said, and Rey just nodded as both parted ways after walking for a few minutes. James rushed home before his mom got angry and Rey also started to go home when suddenly his phone rang.
"Now what is it?" He said as he took it out and started to read the message he got. After reading it, the only thing he did was make a weird face and shout,
"What the hell is this thing..."
