Clearly, with the inherent resilience of an innate deity, Crius continuously repaired wounds that seemed fatal, but such recovery was not without cost. Once he exceeded a certain limit, he would, like Hyperion, the former God of Sun, suffer damage to his Divine Body, lose the support for his consciousness and power, and be forced to retreat into the symbol of his Godhood.

Only by waiting for eons could he eventually walk among the worlds again in full glory.

Yes, initially, Mephisto hadn’t planned to use Hell’s power alone to confront Tartarus.
