Chapter 1387 - 37: Meeting the Mother-in-Law (Part 2)

"...We’ve arrived, Fisher."Soon, they passed through the dense sea of flowers and arrived before a wide white hall.

The end of the hall featured a wall with neatly arranged recesses, each lit with a small candle. Upon closer inspection, it seemed that different colored dragon scales were burning within those candles, as if each scale represented a specific Dragon-man Species, with the candle flame preserving memories to be remembered by future generations.

Standing before the wall was a Dragon-man silently gazing ahead. Clad in golden dragon scales, even though she wore simple white clothes without any adornments, she still looked radiant.

Her long golden hair framed a majestic yet worn face showing a hint of sorrow.

"Mother."

"...Rafael, you’ve arrived."

Upon hearing Rafael’s words from behind, the somewhat older Dragon-man turned with a smile to look at her. Her long golden dragon horn twisted elegantly on her head. When she glanced at Fisher beside Rafael, a golden shimmer flashed in her eyes.

"Aunt Yaril, hello, I’m Fisher Benavides, pleased to meet you."

"Mother, this is the tail-matching partner I’ve told you about."

The scales on Rafael’s body slightly flattened, and her tail gently swayed, each feature proving her words true.

Yaril paused for a moment, then her smile reappeared as she glanced at Fisher warmly and said,

"Hello, Fisher."

She pointed to the chairs beside the candelabra and then said,

"Please have a seat, I’ve prepared everything in advance."

Rafael was momentarily taken aback, then quickly realized what Yaril had prepared in advance,

"Prepared... Wait, is it Kexier and Fasher who..."

Yaril chuckled, covering her mouth, and said,

"They were originally sent by me to keep an eye on you; you don’t know how mischievous you were as a child. Except for those you couldn’t defeat, you’ve beaten all your siblings. I couldn’t ease my mind without them watching over you... Even though in the end they were caught along with you. Now they’re your subordinates and no longer listen to me, but whenever I want to inquire, they’re willing to tell me."

Rafael blushed, embarrassed, twitching her ears and tail subtly, gracefully brushing the red hair beside her ear as if to restore her image in her mother’s eyes.

Unexpectedly, Fisher nodded in agreement and said to Yaril,

"Indeed, I noticed it very early on."

"Huh?"

Rafael was annoyed to the point of gritting her teeth, about to throw a tantrum, but remembering she was still in front of her mother, she glared at Fisher, and then said to Yaril,

"Mother, when Kexier, Lar, and I were captured by humans, it was Fisher who saved us, and I owe returning home to him. Along the way, he taught me a lot and helped me greatly."

"Is that so, no wonder..."

Hearing this, Yaril glanced at Fisher, then stood up to fetch some water. Without continuing on the topic, she instead asked,

"Has the Dragon Court’s warfare calmed down a bit recently?"

Rafael was momentarily puzzled, then smiled and responded,

"...Yes, it’s improved a lot, but we still cannot relax."

"That’s good then..."

Yaril placed two cups of unknown leaf-brewed water before Fisher and Rafael. Rafael took the cup and drank directly, while Fisher thanked and cautiously took a sip.

Hmm, sweet.

Watching Rafael drink, Yaril smiled slightly, then, with a flash of insight and an exaggeratedly expectant look, she suggested,

"Since that’s the case, why not take this time to make a baby?"

"Pfft!"

Rafael coughed abruptly, the tea she had drunk instantly choking her throat, making her pat her chest as steamy heat radiated off her,

"Cough, cough... cough, cough..."

Even Fisher raising his cup was stunned, blinking at Yaril, who was smiling with obvious anticipation, undoubtedly being equally shocked by her words.

"Cough, cough, Mother... what are you saying?! A... a baby... a baby?"

"Yes, a cute mixed-race dragon baby. You’ve reached the age for childbirth. Your brother had already had four kids with your sister-in-law at your age, yet you have none. How does that make sense?"

"Four... I..."

Rafael’s face flushed crimson as she stretched out her claws, tapping her fingers, suddenly at a loss for words.

Her tail, both shy and restless, patted Fisher’s waist, seemingly urging him to come up with an idea.

Even Fisher was caught off guard by such a wide leap in conversation.

Before coming in, all his thoughts were directed at preparing for acceptance by this future mother-in-law. Not even halfway into breaching this subject, Fisher was still adjusting to see the challenges ahead when suddenly, with a "snap," the topic of "it’s time to make a baby" was thrust upon him.
