Chapter 83 Infant Spirit
Chapter 83 Infant Spirit
The avatar suddenly shrank at a visible speed until it became a small figurine and stopped.
At the same time, the aura around it slowly dissipated, revealing a little boy.
He was naked with a pale complexion. There were no visible veins on his body, and he looked slightly blue. He was afraid and kept his distance from Zhouzhou. Zhouzhou raised her eyebrow and looked at him. "Are you an infant spirit?"
Infant spirits were also a type of spiritual being, but they were younger than most, only children.
Usually, only babies who died before or shortly after birth would become like this.
The little boy looked at her, shrunk back, and nodded gently.
Zhouzhou looked at the aura on his body, which had been there for five or six years. No wonder the curse aura was so strong. She furrowed her brow slightly. "Why are you here? Why are you hurting people?"
"I don't know." The little boy said quickly, waving his hands anxiously. "Sister, I really don't know. I used to live with Mom, but one day, another child came, and Mom didn't want me anymore."
At this point, he looked a little dejected and hung his head down.
"Then, I was wrapped up by a big thing and I couldn't see anything or know anything until I was thrown here," he continued.
Zhouzhou stared at him for a while, making sure he was telling the truth before turning her attention to the wooden doll next to him. She picked it up and as soon as she touched it, the little boy shuddered.
Zhouzhou quickly pieced together what had happened – the doll was made specifically for him to inhabit, so when he was connected to it, the doll became him and he became the doll.
Recalling what he had said earlier, Zhouzhou asked, "Your mother?"
"Yeah, my mother!" Despite being abandoned, the little boy still spoke fondly of his mother, his chance to reincarnate wasn't easy to come by, so this was a natural bond.
He said, "My mother was really pretty, and she would give me salty water to drink."
Why would water be salty?
Thinking back to the red bloodstains on the doll, Zhouzhou's expression changed slightly. "She gave you blood to drink."
"What is blood?" the infant spirit asked with a confused expression.
Zhouzhou raised her hand and cut her finger, causing blood to flow out instantly.
The infant spirit's eyes immediately sharpened as he rushed towards her with a scream. Zhouzhou was prepared, and she punched him into the wall. He wasn't coming out any time soon.
The infant spirit screamed, suddenly waking up from his trance. His body hurt so much he wanted to cry, but he looked at Zhouzhou, then pursed his lips and swallowed the sound.
Ignoring him, Zhouzhou took out a hemostatic spell and wrapped her finger. The wound healed immediately.
The little boy had finally regained his senses and pushed himself out from the wall. He immediately shrank into the furthest corner from her, his eyes full of fear.@@@@
"There are methods to raising an infant spirit. She must be selfish not to use them." Zhouzhou continued.
Grandma Qin was also shocked to hear about this. She touched her arm and got goosebumps all over her body. "Zhouzhou, this is unbelievable." She thought this kind of thing only happened in television dramas.
Curiosity got the best of Xiao Lan. She was reading her script, and she suddenly asked, "Do you know who is responsible for the curse?"
Zhouzhou turned her head to look at Xiao Lan. She and Qin Yan were both actresses who were not often at home. Amongst all the aunts, Zhouzhou was least familiar with the Third Elder Aunt because she had a cold and unapproachable demeanor.
But, Zhouzhou liked her anyway because she was so pretty.
Zhouzhou looked at her beautiful face and licked her lips, then shook her head and said, "Not yet. The little infant spirit does not remember the way home. But Second Elder Uncle is already investigating."
"They just recently opened up and developed the area around Shixi Mountain. There weren't many people going there before, and there are no surveillance cameras. It might be difficult to find them," Xiao Lan added, flipping the script page.
Speaking of which, our drama crew was supposed to go to Shixi Mountain a few days ago to play, but one of the actors got sick, and we didn't go."
Grandma Qin, who had just heard about the people who got into an accident and went to Shixi Mountain, nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard Xiao Lan almost went too. She felt lucky it didn't happen.
Zhouzhou lay on the couch, sighing deeply. "I don't know when we'll find the culprit."
She had sealed the little puppet doll and the curse aura so that it wouldn't harm anyone else, but she still needed to find the one responsible for this. It was the only way.
Grandma Qin saw the little girl lying there like a bundle of nerves, her eyebrows furrowed as if she were an old man. This made Grandma Qin chuckle. She raised her hand and smoothed out the creases between her eyebrows. "It's okay. We'll find that person eventually, take it easy."
There was nothing else Zhouzhou could do but nod her head. She snuggled into Grandma Qin's embrace, feeling somewhat better.
Suddenly, it hit her and she looked up nervously, "Grandma, will you abandon me in the future?" She timidly counted on her fingers, "I eat a lot, but still lack money and my master doesn't even want me. According to the abbot, I was abandoned at the foot of the mountain in the dead of winter..."
If she wasn't lucky, she might have become an infant spirit.
Thinking of this, Zhouzhou felt a little sad.
Before she could finish, Grandmother Qin held her plump face in her hands and made her look directly into her eyes, "Don't think too much, you are our precious gem. Anyone who dares abandon you will be thrown out by me first!"
Seeing how serious she was, Zhouzhou finally heaved a sigh of relief and scrambled up onto her lap, wrapping her arms tightly around her and happily exclaiming, "Thank you, Grandma!"
She decided that she would also be kind to her grandmother!
She would make a lot of money!
With that in mind, she hurriedly ran upstairs, "Grandma, I'm off to make some money!"
Grandmother Qin shook her head, amused by her eagerness. However, when she remembered Zhouzhou's earlier words, her smile faded and her eyes narrowed dangerously.
So Zhouzhou was abandoned by someone.
Well, she was going to find out who the fool was who threw away her precious granddaughter!
