Chapter 329 Is He Really Kidnapped?
Chapter 329 Is He Really Kidnapped?
"What's real?" Zhouzhou, noticing the worried expression on the bodyguard's face, craned her neck to peek at his phone. Despite her efforts, she couldn't see the screen, so she tugged on his shirt urgently.
"Young Master Huo has really been kidnapped," the bodyguard blurted out, lifting Zhouzhou and running towards the exit while simultaneously trying to contact Huo Mingxuan.
"Sir, what's going on?"
At the airport, Huo Mingxuan's face was dark with anger, nearly amused by the absurdity of the situation.
"Are you the bodyguard, or am I the bodyguard? You're asking me what's going on?" He took a deep breath, suppressing the urge to berate the bodyguard. "I'll send you an address. We'll meet there."
The address was where the ransom was to be delivered.
"Yes, sir," the bodyguard replied hurriedly, running as fast as he could.
Zhouzhou, held awkwardly with her arms pinned against her chubby belly, almost threw up. She patted the bodyguard's arm in distress.
Her slap nearly broke his bones, causing him to gasp in pain and reflexively loosen his grip.
Zhouzhou spun around and stood firmly on the ground, rubbing her round belly, pouting angrily. "Uncle Sweetie, you almost made me vomit."
Realizing his mistake, the bodyguard quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, I was too anxious."
"You're forgiven." Zhouzhou, rubbing her belly, remembered what he had said. Her expression became serious. "Little Skinny Pole has really been kidnapped."
Without another word, she dashed towards the classroom. "Uncle Sweetie, wait for me. I'll go with you. I know where Little Skinny Pole is."
How could she know? Huo Mingxuan, still on the phone, overheard this and a suspicion formed in his mind, causing him to stop in his tracks, eyes narrowing dangerously.
Oblivious to his thoughts, Zhouzhou returned to the classroom, grabbed her bag, and touched the compass inside, nodding confidently. This would lead her to Little Skinny Pole.
Without making the bodyguard wait long, Zhouzhou grabbed her bag and ran back. They hurriedly made their way to the entrance, where Qin Feng rushed over, holding the car door and anxiously asking, "Zhouzhou, where are you going?"
"Little Skinny Pole has been kidnapped. I'm going to rescue him," Zhouzhou replied as she climbed into the car.
Qin Feng's expression changed. "No, it's too dangerous. Little Uncle will worry."
Realizing she hadn't informed her father, Zhouzhou quickly borrowed the bodyguard's phone and called Qin Lie, explaining the situation.
Upon hearing this, Qin Lie frowned slightly. "Where are you going? Tell me the address."
Zhouzhou didn't know, so she handed the phone to the bodyguard.
The bodyguard quickly provided the address.
"Alright, I'll be there soon. Keep an eye on Zhouzhou. Don't let her act alone until I arrive," Qin Lie instructed, his tone serious. "Zhouzhou, do you still want your lucky hair?"
Qin Feng facepalmed. Zhouzhou was so clueless.
Zhouzhou, unaware that her words nearly sent two people to their deaths—one from anger and one from fright—continued planning a gift to congratulate Huo Ji'an on his new dad.
Suddenly, she was picked up. She turned and saw the person, her eyes lighting up as her little legs kicked joyfully. "Daddy!"
Qin Lie gently patted her head, relieved to see her behaving. The whole way here, he had worried she might have been distracted by money again.
Seeing him, Huo Mingxuan's expression darkened further. "Is it you who kidnapped Ji'an?"
Huh?
Everyone turned to Qin Lie.
Qin Lie's expression remained indifferent. "It wasn't me."
"If not you, then why does your daughter know where Ji'an is?"
Zhouzhou, who was about to speak, proudly holding her compass, was stopped by Qin Lie's gentle squeeze on her chubby hand. She swallowed her words, blinking up at him.
Qin Lie looked at Huo Mingxuan and sneered. "Do you think Huo Ji'an is tricking you again?"
Huo Mingxuan fell silent. Truthfully, he had considered that.
Hearing this, Zhouzhou pouted angrily. "This time it wasn't my daddy, and Little Skinny Pole didn't trick you."
"The last time wasn't his idea either. It was my Fifth Brother's fault. If you're going to blame someone, blame him!"
In the classroom, Qin Nan suddenly sneezed, looking around in confusion. Who was talking about him?
Meanwhile, Zhouzhou puffed up her cheeks, glaring indignantly.
Qin Lie soothingly patted her back.
This was why, after their "kidnapping" attempt failed, he hadn't pursued the matter.
Ultimately, Huo Mingxuan would blame Huo Ji'an, thinking he was being mischievous, which meant even if Huo Mingxuan returned, it would only be a temporary fix.
Confirming it wasn't Qin Lie, Huo Mingxuan was about to apologize when his phone rang. It was the kidnappers.
He answered with a grim expression. "Hello?"
Immediately, a rough voice came through, "Mr. Huo, drop the ransom where instructed. No tricks. Not a penny less, or your son loses a finger. We'll move on to toes after that. Let's see how much your son can take."
"No police, or you know what happens."
The bodyguard: "..." Why did those lines sound so familiar?
