Chapter 878 Off to Seek Revenge

Chapter 878 Off to Seek Revenge

Zhouzhou couldn't fly a plane, but Lan Tian could! And, most importantly, he actually owned a private plane, a reward from his superiors that he was allowed to use freely. Normally, he only flew it for official missions, but if Zhouzhou asked him? Well, who could resist her?

Besides, Lan Tian wasn't the kind of person who followed all the rules strictly anyway. Getting confined to a small room as punishment was routine for him, and it didn't bother him at all. If he hadn't been so capable, he would've been kicked out long ago. That's what his boss said, which shows just how much of a rebel he really was.

If Zhouzhou asked him to help settle things with Garen, that crazy guy would probably say yes and take her straight to Garen's hideout. After all, he loved a good thrill.

The more Chen Tuo thought about it, the more likely this scenario seemed, and he started to panic. They had crossed paths with Garen before and knew exactly how dangerous he was. If Zhouzhou was going to confront him, why didn't she take them along? He was worried, but Qin Lie was even more anxious.

After getting no answers from the Lan family, Qin Lie grabbed a computer and began hacking into the hospital's surveillance system. Seeing this, Chen Tuo was alarmed and tried to stop him, "Mr. Qin, this is a military hospital. If you hack their surveillance system, there will be serious consequences!"

Qin Lie stared at him quietly. "And how long will it take to go through official channels?"

Chen Tuo fell silent. Going through the proper procedures would take at least several hours. If Zhouzhou had left with Lan Tian last night, they were likely already at their destination. By the time they got there, Zhouzhou could have either returned--or worse. His heart skipped a beat, and he quickly let go of Qin Lie's arm.@@@@

Qin Lie wasted no time, his fingers flying across the keyboard. Within minutes, he pulled up a video, and the veins on his forehead bulged as he watched. Chen Tuo peeked at the screen and then glanced at Qin Lie's furious expression, feeling a wave of sympathy for Zhouzhou. Even if she returned safely, she was definitely in for a harsh punishment.

Qin Lie slammed the laptop shut and marched out of the room. Just then, Wen Jing approached, holding a note. "Mr. Qin, Zhouzhou left this for you." She had found it by his pillow.

Qin Lie unfolded the note and saw a crooked line of handwriting: "Daddy, I'm sorry. Daddy, I love you."

Seeing those words, Qin Lie let out a cold laugh. Did this little troublemaker really think an apology would make him forgive her? Not a chance! The sedative she used on him wasn't light, either. When he got his hands on her, he'd pull out every last one of her little braids!

Meanwhile, in the rainforest, Zhouzhou shivered, causing the messy hair on her head to quiver and settle back down. Hugging her chubby arms, she glanced at the time, worrying silently. Had her dad woken up already? He wouldn't hit her, right? No, no, her dad loved her too much for that.

Zhouzhou kept trying to reassure herself, unaware of the gravity of what she had done.

Lan Tian, curious, asked, "What's this?"

"It's to ward off snakes and bugs." Zhouzhou explained. "We used to have snakes in the mountains, and they scared my master so much he'd scream in the middle of the night. I made this for him, and after that, he never complained again."

She hadn't expected her dad to come to the rainforest, so she hadn't prepared anything for him in advance. Now she felt guilty.

Lan Tian sniffed the ointment. "No smell. Are you sure this works in a rainforest? These aren't ordinary snakes."

Zhouzhou nodded confidently. "It works."

With that, she quickly rubbed the ointment all over herself and urged Lan Tian to do the same. After all, they couldn't leave empty-handed now that they were here.

Lan Tian complied, rubbing the ointment on himself, and even over his helmet. Then he changed into his own combat gear.

Zhouzhou looked up and asked, "You're coming too?"

"Of course," Lan Tian replied. "You think I'd let a kid go alone? I brought you here, so I'll take you back safely."

Hearing this, Zhouzhou grinned and smeared some ointment on his head too. It was the most important spot, and it couldn't afford to get hurt.

After ten minutes of preparation, the two had checked all their equipment. Lan Tian parked the plane in a safe spot, and the pair, one big and one small, set off deeper into the rainforest.

Lan Tian noticed something fascinating: the snakes and bugs really did keep their distance. In fact, after half an hour, not even a mosquito had bitten them. Impressed, he gave Zhouzhou a thumbs-up. The girl knew her stuff.

Zhouzhou beamed at him, her chubby little face full of soft cuteness. But as she focused ahead, her expression hardened with fury.

Whoever hurt her dad was going to pay dearly!
