Chapter 1037 Who Is the Prodigy?

Chapter 1037 Who Is the Prodigy?

That night, Zhouzhou slept soundly, while poor Kurosaki had a rough time outside. He had indeed planned to kill the two children. If he succeeded, the young master would definitely win the competition tomorrow.

However, something strange happened. As soon as he entered the elevator, the elevator began to rise and fall rapidly. Although Kurosaki was skilled at concealing his presence, he was still standing in the elevator, and though no one could sense him, the elevator itself was something he couldn't escape.

With a loud "bang," the elevator crashed to a halt on the ground. The shock of the impact caused a jolt in his organs, and he nearly spat out a mouthful of blood. He quickly pressed the emergency button on the wall, and hotel staff arrived to assist him, but it was an hour before they finally got him out.

Having encountered such an inexplicable incident, Kurosaki was in a foul mood, and the murderous aura around him began to intensify. He needed to kill someone to calm his emotions.

Thinking about this, he decided to take the stairs to go up. Zhouzhou and the others were staying on the tenth floor, which was not very high, so it would only take him a minute to reach them.

But for some reason, the stairs seemed unusually long that night. Despite having walked for over ten minutes, when he looked up, he had only reached the eighth floor. Continuing to climb, he was startled when, after another glance, he found himself on the eleventh floor. He retraced his steps, trying to go down, but he kept passing the eighth and ninth floors without ever reaching the tenth.

"What's going on here?" Kurosaki felt something was wrong. He immediately drew his gun, scanning the area cautiously. "Who's messing with me?" he demanded.

But no one responded. He felt the air around him, trying to sense any presence, but there was nothing. He was a master of hiding his own aura, so it was unlikely that anyone was hiding under his nose. What on earth was happening?

A sense of panic began to rise within him, as humans are always most unsettled by the unknown. He kept staring at the surrounding walls but couldn't find anything unusual. After a moment, he gritted his teeth and decided to abandon the mission, going down to reassess the situation.

However, as he descended, he realized something even stranger: the floors kept increasing.

Twelfth floor.

Thirteenth floor.

Fifteenth floor.

Twenty-ninth floor!

By the time he saw the rooftop, his eyes widened in shock. He had reached the highest point of the building. He had been trying to go down!

"What the hell is happening today?" he muttered, his mind in disarray, sweat trickling down his forehead. He wondered if he had been going up all along instead of down. Perhaps if he reversed the direction, he could finally go back down.

But there were no more steps ahead of him. He grit his teeth, closed his eyes, and stepped forward once more.

The next moment, he felt his foot slip, and his body plunged downward with a violent crash.

Upon seeing Zhouzhou, Brian Junior immediately walked up to her, his nose pointed in her direction. "Shorty, I stayed up all night exercising and preparing. I'll definitely win the championship today," he declared smugly.

Zhouzhou didn't want to pay him any attention, but after hearing his words, she couldn't resist shooting him a glare. "You're the shorty, and your whole family's short!" she retorted.

Brian Junior furrowed his brow. "Why is that your focus? I said I stayed up all night preparing, and you should be worried about it, not making fun of me!"

Zhouzhou snorted in annoyance, "Staying up late makes you dumb, didn't you know?"

With that, she straightened her back and walked off, leaving him behind.

"He's the shorty, not me! When I grow to seven meters tall, I'll kick him around like a ball!" Zhouzhou muttered to herself, still seething. "Let him say whatever he wants for now."

Qin Er, who had overheard the conversation, knew Zhouzhou was a bit shorter than others, but he was always on her side. He comforted her, saying, "It's fine, we'll beat him in intelligence."

"Exactly!" Zhouzhou nodded vigorously, feeling much better. "That big dumb guy isn't smart. Unlike me, I'll grow my brain first, then my body—two things at once!"

She chuckled, shaking her head happily.

Qin Er gave her a sidelong glance, but didn't say anything to dampen her spirits.

"A little shorter isn't so bad," he thought to himself. "You never have to buy a ticket for anything!"

"That's a good deal," he smiled inwardly.

The others were deep in their thoughts as well.

Soon, the competition began.

The seating arrangement was based on yesterday's rankings, so Zhouzhou and Brian Junior ended up sitting across from each other.

She glared at him, her eyes practically shooting fire, and made a gesture toward her head, then silently mouthed, "Shorty!"

Brian Junior's brow furrowed as he saw her taunt. His competitive spirit flared up.

"Just wait. I'll show you that I'm the smartest prodigy!"
