The heat of the dance floor, the dim flashing lights, and the scent of her expensive perfume made it impossible to focus on anything else.
His whole attention was focused on the shockingly beautiful specimen nestled between his arms and staring at him with twinkling eyes.
But deep in his chaotic mind, a war was raging.
'Should I just leave her alone?' Hugo thought to himself, panic creeping into his heart. He couldn't believe he would be having these thoughts but he had no choice.
Celine had a boyfriend!

And as much as he liked to joke around, he was a guy's guy. He wasn't the type to go after another dude's girl.
That was just breaking the bro code, and if there was one thing Hugo valued, it was loyalty among men.

If she wanted to play games, then fine. He was just going to have fun and leave it at that.
With that newfound resolve, he pulled Celine tighter into his embrace, ready to just go with the flow.
But then—
Disaster struck!
A loud voice suddenly boomed from behind him. "Damn! Look at that beautiful girl!"
Hugo's instincts kicked in instantly. No matter where he was and who he was with, if he heard a beautiful girl, he had to look.

Was running away an option? No, that would make him look suspicious.
Should he pretend he didn't see her? That was risky as hell.
Should he just leave the party entirely? That was probably the safest bet.

His gaze flickered to the mirror.
His reflection stared back at him—a man standing at a crossroads.
