Chapter 14 Venturing outside the shelter

Lucas and Sarah explained their whole encounter with the rapacious plant making them baffled that they got in this danger by looking at a small-flowered plant.

"Wait, so you got this herbalism skill from killing that thing?" John asked with surprise to which Lucas and Sarah nodded.

"That's... nice I guess?" Sean spoke for the first time in a while.

"Yeah, it is but we both didn't know how to actually fight the thing and it almost killed me," Lucas said while pointing at his back, the others got the gist of it.

"So, I am just saying, it will not be good if you venture on your own. Think about your family if you die alone out there. how will they survive?" Lucas said with seriousness.

"Don't fucking say that!" Sean got angry after listening to Lucas say some cruel things.

"What a dick." Barney, who usually kept to himself said with an annoyed face.

"He is right, I can't die... not when you all are not safe.." John said with a distant look. Even Ella had an annoyed face while looking at Lucas but she still wanted to stop John from moving on his own.

Sarah gave Lucas a sidelong glance and thought of giving him a piece of her mind later.

"Then it's settled, we will leave toward the direction we found the rapacious plant after a while. Is it okay with you all?" Lucas asked with a plain face not minding the frowning gazes of the two sons of John.

"Yeah, we will get ready in a bit." John said with a nod and asked for her wife to come with him. It seemed they needed to talk about something.

"Oh, this is good grass!" Lucas exclaimed not too loud and went to the somewhat yellowish grass. He didn't just pluck it from the ground but dug the soil slowly and pulled it slowly feeling good that not a single root broke in the whole process.

"When getting these types of medicinal plants, try to be a little gentle, every single part of the thing is important," Lucas said while examining every singleleaf on the one-foot-tall plant in his hand.

"What does it do?" Ella asked with curiosity that was infectious.

"I just know that this plant's leaves help to make the mind calmer, It's not a drug or anything, the calming effect is all organic." He said with a smile.

"You sound like a salesman," Sean said which made the others chuckle together. Such a strange site, they were all in a dangerous place where getting attacked was the least horrendous thing and many had already died.

Just like that, they only traveled a few more meters until Lucas found yet another good plant. Yet he didn't pluck it out but made a mental note as to where it was located.

'For some reason, I can feel this plant is not ready yet...' he thought, the plant was reddish in color and did not show any status but Lucas could feel the plant sucking some energy from the atmosphere at a high rate.

"What about this plant, Lucas?" Ella asked looking at the same plant, it seemed she was interested in his skill.

"Yeah, this plant is not ready yet, let's get it back later, Aunt Ella."

"This much area is okay, Lucas. We are not too close and not too far from the shelter. Let's get these trees."

Just like that, all six of them went to work. At first, John felt like Sarah should not do the heavy work with them but then she showed her strength which was compared to Lucas but a little weak.

They all kept seeing the importance of leveling up and the drive to perform some acts of killing kept coming into their minds.
