Chapter 129 Fixing Lucas
Chapter 129 Fixing Lucas
John and Ella got near Lucas in a hurry.
Luckily for Lucas, after getting blasted by the mutt, he was in the cover of a tree that was now burning. He was still hit full-on by the fireball's aftermath but still got protected by a little due to nature's kindness.
"John, his condition is worse than critical, I don't know how he is still alive..." Ella said with a very pale expression as if she had seen a ghost and lost the blood in her face by being scared.
"Don't say that, please... Heal him quick Ella." John was worried like a dad and Ella was the same, she just knew the situation better than him by being over-sensitive to what was going on in Lucas's body.
Lucas's whole back was burnt completely and his protective skin was all gone. The hair on his head from the back was gone and it was not the problem, the problem was the burns on his head and how the wound was pulsating and bleeding.
Lucas's whole face was burnt and most of his cheekbone was showing, his left eye was busted and his eye socket was damaged from the inside very badly as if the corrosive liquid had gone in and done its deed.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Ella didn't tell John and started healing Lucas on the spot.
"Should we take him inside the shelter first? The shelter's upgrade is already done." Haley chimed in and asked with worry. Seeing Lucas's condition was making her nauseous.
"Calm down" Sandra hugged her to make her calm down and continued, "I can't see any death energy building in his body, he is going to be fine."
Haley just nodded while her eyes reddened.
The shelter's defenses were as good as new with some new tweaking here and there. Nobody cared for it and they all helped Lucas inside the shelter while this time closing a newly formed gate of the shelter's defense finally making it worth Lucas's given time.
As the group tended to Lucas's needs, Sarah sat by his side, guilt and sadness consuming her. She blamed herself for the devastating fire and for inadvertently putting Lucas and the others in danger.
"I never wanted this to happen," Sarah whispered, tears streaming down her face. "I didn't mean for it to get out of control."
No one said anything inside the room and stayed silent, Sarah's skill had made the forest into a wasteland and also hindered everyone's safety. If not for Jerry and John, it could be possible that some of them could have gotten some pretty severe burns.
John placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "We all make mistakes, Sarah. What matters now is that we learn from them and grow stronger together. We'll find a way to control your powers and make sure nothing like this happens again, okay?"
John moved her hand and kept it on his chest making him brawl further. He wanted to ask something from her, of how she had done such a feat but it was no time for it.
Lucas's face was covered with makeshift bandaids that were made from the clean extra wearables that others had.
No one could see his face that was still the same as before only this time, the bleeding had stopped and the inner skin had stopped pulsating.
As the group settled in the shelter, their worries lingered, especially concerning Lucas's condition. They all took turns keeping a watchful eye on him, hoping for any signs of improvement.
Sarah, in particular, felt a deep sense of responsibility and remorse for what had happened. She sat by Lucas's side for hours, praying for his recovery and silently vowing to control her powers better in the future.
She hadn't told anyone, but she had acquired a new skill and its scary name had made her panic every second after getting to know that she had it. The name was...
