Chapter 298 Mutated Trolls

Chapter 298 Mutated Trolls

As he delved deep into his heart, Lucas allowed some of the darkness within to seep out. The chaos he felt now was far greater than anything he had experienced during his last time in the Plains of Amaeron.

"Focus, Lucas. You can do this."

He kept running until he spotted a pack of silhouettes in a clearing. Baring his fangs, he surged forward with even greater speed. The figures in the distance became clearer as he closed in on them.

Lucas ignored the system's message and instead focused on the chaos energy swirling inside him. He unleashed it, letting it flood every part of his body, and soon he began to feel an intense itching sensation.

The five trolls, alerted by the sheer noise Lucas was making, turned in his direction. They weren't particularly perceptive—it was just that Lucas was impossibly loud.

Just as he was about to reach them, Lucas abruptly stopped.

"Can you understand me?" he asked, his eyes flashing with menace.

The trolls exchanged uneasy glances, visibly trembling under his gaze.

"Speak within five seconds, or I'll kill every one of you," Lucas threatened, increasing the intensity of his bloodlust.

The trolls' legs wobbled, and it seemed like they might collapse at any moment. Despite their massive size—each one easily three times the size of Lucas—something in the air told them that the human before them was not to be underestimated.

ROARRRR!!!

One of the trolls finally broke free from its fear and roared with all its might.

"I'm sorry about this," Lucas said with a wicked grin.

He closed his eyes for a brief second, and a pitch-black aura began to emanate from him. It started at his neck and quickly enveloped his body like a cloak.

Lucas raised his hands, watching as the dark fog coalesced at his fingertips, forming long, sharp claws about three inches long. A shiver of excitement ran through him, almost as if he relished the sensation.

Non-fighting abilities like Lucas's crafting, Ella's and Sandra's healing, and Phil's farming. They were not able to attack but were sometimes even more important than the skills related to fighting.

While Ella's level was low, her exceptional healing skills could earn her the title of a noble in the Quest realm Lucas was at. Such was the power of unique abilities.

'Ah, that explains why Bill was so shocked... Damn,' Lucas thought, cringing at the realization that he hadn't figured it out sooner.

'He can see other people's status. If he saw mine... that means I've got a lot of explaining to do when I get back.'

But before dealing with that, Lucas clicked on the contact he trusted most in the shelter, following the instinct of his heart.

-"Lucas, are you okay now?"-

"Yes, Uncle John. I've vented some of the chaos, but it'll be a while before I can return. In the meantime, put Haley and the best fighters on alert for the areas I've marked. They need to move fast—these corpses could attract even stronger monsters."

Lucas marked his current location on the map as he spoke.

-"Wait... did you encounter trolls?"-

"Yes, and they're the ones I need you to get back to the shelter quickly." Find adventures at My Virtual Library Empire

-"... Alright. Thanks to you, we can safely move non-fighters into that area. It's been blocked off for a while now."-

"Blocked?" Lucas frowned, puzzled by the situation.

-"There have been many new species appearing around the territory, but trolls are among the worst. They're nearly impossible to kill, and our weapons can't pierce their hides. It's a different story with the mutated ones."-

"Uncle John, I'll talk to you more about this later. For now, just send Haley and someone else quickly,"

-"Roger... and Lucas, I can see your level here. We need to have a serious talk when you're available."-

"I'll be back sooner than you think. Just keep an eye on the map—I'll be marking more spots. Also, don't tell my family I'm back yet. I'll speak with them when I'm ready."

-"Better be quick, young man. They call every morning, especially your father."-

"Really? That's out of character for him."

With that, Lucas ended the call and took off running toward the only dungeon in the territory.
