Chapter 495 A feeling of doubt
Chapter 495 A feeling of doubt
"Must you leave... My love?"
Celine's soft voice was hoarse from the night of passion while her frail hands touched his handsome face. There was a unique connection between them, her elven bloodline soothed by the world tree inside him.
In return, Asura felt warmth from the elf touching his cheeks, empowering the world tree.
"I would stay here and keep you in bed for eternity if I could."
'This beautiful elven princess is carrying my child, how strange and wonderful is my life?'
The pair felt at ease, yet worried.
Asure would soon leave, taking dangerous people and diplomats to his homeland...
Though Celene felt a sense of delight knowing that with this action, they might connect their long-separated continents with a potential future.
However...
"I don't want you to be in danger, to suffer... how can I help you?"
Tears slipped down Celine's cheeks, one of the most attuned women about Asura's feelings. She could sense his feelings of doubt and the worries in his mind.
The love between them grew, at first, an ugly seed... they clashed and bickered. Yet, the seed germinated, and finally, their feelings grew. It bloomed as beautifully as the flowers in their elven palace. However, now that love was so dear to the elven princess... letting him go into danger caused her to feel terrified.
She couldn't stop her fears and worries overflowing as the time of their separation approached.
"My heart will be broken if you were to suffer, or goddess forbid... never return." Her delicate fingers pressed against his chest.
"You are always taking risks with your life... and saving others, but if we keep relying on you over and over. Then tell me..."
"Asura, who will save you?"
'Eh...'
Asura felt stunned by her words, and Celine's heartfelt emotions sank through his guard. It shocked him that she might feel this way—all this time—he believed that his suffering didn't matter.
'For it was the same, as long as none of them suffer... that if I can protect them, what did it matter if I suffered or died?'
A gasping breath entered Celene's lips from the sight of Asura's blood-red eyes softening before her. "Did you finally understand..." He finally understood that he was finally feeling the level of sorrow and worry of the ones he had left behind.
When it came to protecting all he loved... He didn't even consider the fact that each of them might mourn him. Or that they were just as desperate to keep him out of danger.
With Celine's tears streaming down, her hand touched his cheek.
"I cannot stop you, but please... don't come back full of wounds, not again... I don't think that I could bear that scene once again..."
"You must win, win without suffering... promise me..."
"...Promise me..." The last words slipped past her lips as she became faint, the pregnancy weakening her. However, as soon as those last words escaped, there came a powerful glow. A ring formed on her finger.
"I won't die."
"Hoh! That is certainly amusing, what an interesting future we might have. All you have to do is return home, alive. We elves care nothing of what you must do. Please, Asura, the one who saved our empire. Please come home after everything is over."
Asura felt a sense of warmth—he spent his past lifetime feeling inferior and lonely. Now, there were many people, all offering him a place to rest. All consider him family and grant him warmth as if making up for all his suffering.
With that, he stepped towards the main room where the elven delegates and the first prince Al Menitos awaited, but what he saw when he appeared shocked him.
"Eh?"
Hundreds of elven knights in silver armour, all of them kneeling towards Asura. Then, behind them, a large group of orcs were doing the same. What shocked him further was his father-in-law.
Bal'Vak.
"Young prince of the elves, our saviour and the one who helped bring peace to these lands. I offer you my axe, and two hundred of my finest warriors to aid you in your task."
Then, beside him, an elven male with a handsome face and light brown hair gave a polite bow.
"I am the commander of the Darkvale knights!"
"As a symbol of gratitude from the Darkvale knights to prince Al Solarian, I hereby present my command and five hundred of our finest knights! May our friendship last an eternity and a chance to rebuild the past world!"
'Isn't that the strange name that Melania gave me... Is that my elven name?'
Not giving himself any time to think about this new information, Asura stood tall and regal. He lifted his hand as a wave of green light shimmered out from the trees and plants on either side, creating a beautiful bridge that floated above them.
Underneath their feet, a beautiful tree wrapped in runes began to form.
"I thank you both for the support and for accepting your feelings of acceptance and peace in your hearts. I ask you all to please stand—I will endeavour to keep my promise and bring all of you back safely."
Asura looked at the orcs and elves standing together. Their peace, although short and still being slowly created, yet he believed that with the empress and Bal'vak.
Then everything would be alright.
"Since you have chosen to follow me, then I will grant you all a small blessing and wish your loved ones a painless wait."
At that moment, the glow of the golden tree underneath his feet turned silver.
The next moment, the entire hall became silent.
"Your Majesty, I am leaving."
Asura turned to the empress, but when he leaned close and whispered into her ear, she suddenly opened her eyes wide.
"Farewell, Mother. See you soon, I hope you wish me luck!"
He left a final goodbye before disappearing into the glowing portal.
A lovely elven princess was watching his back with her eyes becoming serious, and there was no sign of the weakness she showed in her bedchamber.
