84 D-Day. Sunset Inn vs Walk Shop (I)

Finally! The d-day has arrived.

I stepped out of my car in style, straightening my blazer as I scanned the venue.

The building hosting the presentation was one of those beautifully designed masterpieces of modern architecture. It was the kind of place where deals worth billions were made and will become the battleground where my victory would be assured.

"We're ready, sir." Tom said, coming up out of nowhere in his usual fashion.

"Good." I nodded, looking at my team standing behind him. They were the group of sharp minded people who would back me up in this presentation even if the bulk of it all rested on my shoulders.

But that wasn't a bad thing. After all, I thrived on moments like this. Losing definitely wasn't an option.

"Let's do this."

We walked into the building, heading for the hall this would be taking place in. As soon as I entered the hall, I spotted Justin Kale in, surrounded by Eidolon's senior executives and key decision-makers. People I was familiar with from the shareholders meeting. Perfect.

I approached Justin, extending a confident handshake. "Justin." I said with a grin. "Thanks for hosting us. I trust everything's in place for today?"

Justin smiled, putting his excitement for what was coming on display. After all, two companies were battling for exclusive rights to his Adaptive AI.

"Nico." He greeted me. "I've been looking forward to this. I trust you'll make it memorable."

"Oh, you know me." I replied with a grin. "Memorable is what I do."

We exchanged pleasantries before I moved on, making the rounds to greet other relevant players. Justin's excitement had infected the room and everybody was radiating it.

I moved through the crowd, shaking hands and cracking jokes, using my experience to create a lasting impression.

I already believed I'd win. Excitement wasn't the only thing that was infectious.

As I turned a corner, I saw him.

Wang Tae Bin.

He was dressed to impress like I was, working the room with a smile.

"Why play sad songs when you're feeling cheerful at that moment in time? Why accept bright lighting when you just want to sit in the dark and want your moment of peace away from the world?"

I looked out at the audience, locking eyes with Justin. "Now, I could stand here and tell you about it but I'd rather show you."

At my cue, the curtains fell and two assistants stepped forward, one opening a door that led to a replica of a Sunset Inn hotel room set up specifically for this presentation. The replica had a wall open to the audience.

"Justin," I said, gesturing toward the room. "Would you mind being our guest?"

He looked interested, smiling at the executives he was seating with and stood, walking toward the room with me. The audience craned their necks to see what was happening.

The moment Justin stepped into the room, the magic began.

Soft jazz music played in the background, the exact genre he loved, based on data we'd gathered from WireFrame Solutions.

The lighting dimmed to a warm glow and the thermostat adjusted to a comfortable 72 degrees. A virtual assistant greeted him by name, offering a selection of drinks based on his past preferences.

He turned to me, clearly impressed. "How did you-?"

I smiled. "Just a little something we prepared."

The audience murmured in approval, some even applauding softly. I could see the curiosity and excitement on their faces. This was exactly the reaction I'd been aiming for.

Justin explored the room, testing out the features. The virtual assistant guided him through options for personalized meal plans, entertainment and even local activities curated to his interests.

After a few minutes, Justin rejoined the audience, nodding his approval. "That was... remarkable."

I took the podium again, wrapping up my presentation. "With Justin Kale, he was offered a virtual assistant because we knew that was his preference. But with a client like Mr. Marcus Hale, we would've offered a human assistant."

"This is just the beginning. With Eidolon Interactive as our partner, Sunset Inn will redefine hospitality, creating experiences that are as unique as the guests we serve. Thank you."

The room erupted in applause and I stepped off the stage. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Wang standing there, looking furious.

Good.

This was my game now.
