Chapter 126 Paradise Exploration (2)
Chapter 126 Paradise Exploration (2)
The transition through the Bliss Portal felt like being pulled through liquid light, my entire being stretched and compressed simultaneously. Colors swirled and merged, reality itself seemed to bend, and for a moment that felt both instantaneous and eternal, I existed everywhere and nowhere at once.@@@@
'This feels awful no matter how many times I experience this.'
I thought experiencing mind pressure from the portal.
When we emerged on the other side, the familiar wave of disorientation hit me like a physical force. My head throbbed with the special kind of headache that only portal travel could induce - a deep, pulsing ache that reminded you your body wasn't meant to be yanked through space like that.
If even I who was experienced with the pressure from Lunacy felt like this then there was no need to talk about the others, they were in even worse condition.
Several students around me stumbled, their equilibrium thrown off by the transition.
I steadied myself, taking slow breaths as my senses realigned.
The air here was different - thicker, more charged with raw essence. Each breath felt like drinking liquid energy, and I had to consciously regulate my essence absorption to maintain my cover.
A normal student wouldn't be able to process Paradise's essence density this easily.
The Government Stronghold, Outpost Seven, sprawled before us in impressive detail. It was a stark contrast to the wild Paradise I remembered from my first visit - no maze walls or deadly traps here. Instead, massive walls of essence-reinforced stone rose into the purple-tinged sky, their surfaces etched with protective arrays that gleamed with constant power.
Watchtowers dotted the perimeter, each manned by guards wielding essence-enhanced weapons. Their armor bore the distinctive markings of the Paradise Defense Force - elite soldiers specifically trained to handle Paradise's unique threats. I caught glimpses of essence cannons mounted on rotating platforms, their crystalline cores pulsing with stored power.
Strange plants grew in orderly rows - cultivation fields for Paradise-native species. Some bore fruits that pulsed with inner light, their essence signatures complex and fascinating. Others had leaves that chimed softly in the morning breeze, creating an otherworldly melody. Government researchers moved between the plots, their protective suits glowing with essence-shielding as they took measurements and harvested samples.
"The Sanctuary Alliance has been terraforming this region for decades," Jin explained as we walked, his voice carrying notes of both pride and caution. "These plants are hybrids - Earth species modified to thrive in Paradise's essence-rich environment. Each successful adaptation teaches us more about controlling and utilizing Paradise's unique properties."
We passed through the agricultural zone and into wilder territory, where Paradise's true nature began to assert itself. Massive flowers that would have dwarfed Earth's largest trees swayed in essence currents we couldn't see but could definitely feel. Crystalline formations jutted from the ground at impossible angles, humming with power that made my demonic essence stir restlessly.
That's when we heard it - a low growl that seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere at once, vibrating through both air and essence. The seniors instantly moved into defensive positions, forming a practiced perimeter around us juniors. Their reactions spoke of experience, of lessons learned the hard way.
"First contact," Sara announced with practiced calm. "Remember your training. Stay in formation, essence stabilizers at maximum."
Through the strange vegetation, a shape emerged that made several students gasp in fear or awe. It moved like liquid shadow given form, its body constantly shifting between solid and vapor states. Multiple eyes opened and closed across its surface in seemingly random patterns, each one glowing with an inner fire that spoke of power.
Our first Paradise monster - and from the way the seniors were tensing, this wasn't going to be a simple observation exercise. I felt my own essence stir in response to the creature's presence, the demonic energy within me resonating with its wild nature. I forced it down immediately, maintaining my careful facade.
This was why we were here. This was the real Paradise, where power and danger danced together in an endless cycle. And somewhere in this strange, beautiful, terrible place, I would need to carve out my own territory.

But part of me, the part that knew Paradise's true nature, recognized this moment for what it was.

The monster's eyes fixed on our group, and the real exploration began.
