Chapter 471 Low Ranking Dimi

Chapter 471 Low Ranking Dimi

"now come with me. what do you fight with, and what's your name?"

"uh, my name is dimitri, and i just use a short sword. i haven't really gotten adept with my ability.

i just have normal control over surrounding my body with energy and minor shapeshifting." he lifted his arm as it transformed into a shiny blade before reforming back to a hand.

"and you haven't focused on getting any assignments to get stronger?"

as they entered the armory room, dimitri explained, "well, i haven't been volunteering for anything and have tried to stay behind. i just have this nervous itch and i don't want to die," he stated, gripping his fist.

"you know if the captain hears this, he will beat you into the ground. you would have been better off trying to transfer to the 11th division if you are really this scared of fighting. at least she is understanding of weaklings."

the armory room was a vast space filled with rows of weapons and gear, each item meticulously organized.

the cold metallic scent mixed with the faint smell of oil used to maintain the weapons.

the walls were lined with various armaments, from swords and spears to advanced energy rifles. the ceiling was high, with lights casting a sterile glow over the equipment.

dimitri's eyes darted around the room, clearly intimidated by the sheer volume of weaponry and the responsibility they represented.

he finished talking, clipping light armor over his chest before wrapping black tape around his hands. "well, i guess none of that matters right now," he said, walking over to a metal locker. opening it, he pulled out a gun and an array of vials.

"wh-what is that for?" dimitri stammered, his eyes widening at the sight.

"this is for when we find the person in charge, or at least one of them. the vale monsters aren't smart enough to do all of this on their own, much less transport as quickly as they are," vice captain masabi explained.

as he finished, he threw a utility belt to dimitri. "i'll let you borrow mine, but anything you waste, you owe me 20 laps around the cipher moon. is that understood?"

"ye-yes, sir!" dimitri responded with a slight quiver in his voice, giving a slight bow.

"what exactly does the belt have?" he asked, clasping it around his waist. the black utility belt meshed nicely between his blue top and blue jeans. his blond hair, which ran slightly past his ears, shifted as he looked up at vice captain masabi.

"just your standard smokes and grenades. not too effective against strong creatures, but if zombies are plentiful, they could be good for diversions. the weaker you are, the smarter you need to be," vice captain masabi explained.

"how old are you, anyway, dimitri? and i mean how long since you awoke from the fountain?"

dimitri rubbed the back of his head.

"it's hard to say, maybe 5 or 6 years? i spent most of my time just crawling out and up the stairs as the others around me seemed to decay. it's a memory i'm not too fond of."

masabi nodded. "but you made it. so be proud."

"but regardless, it's about time we head off. the rest of the guards here are assisting the captains in finding a traitor, so count yourself lucky you aren't playing that game."

pulling a silver cross from the locker, he walked up to dimitri. "yeah, it doesn't seem any option i have is safe then?"

with a slight tilt of his head, masabi placed his hand on dimitri's shoulder and playfully said, "nope, not even a little."

as their bodies disintegrated into particles, they began to fade into light. their energy surged through the ceiling, shooting upwards into the vast expanse of space.

they sped through the cosmos, their bodies transforming into streams of light.

soon, they collided with a green webbed barrier that stretched across the space like a shimmering net.
