Chapter 530: Daggered Pain

Xuán Wěi tilted his head, his eyes gleaming with amusement. "Oh, we plan to."

Without warning, Xuán Wěi’s fingers curled into a fist, and the spectral chains around Daemon’s legs tightened, the ethereal links coiling like snakes, their grip unyielding. Daemon staggered, the sudden force pulling him down, locking him in place.

"Shit!" Daemon cursed, struggling against the chains as they constricted around him, his muscles straining with the effort to break free.

Omhina’s hand flared with green energy as she moved, her cloak billowing as she lunged toward Daemon, her other hand raised in a defensive gesture. "I’ve got this."

But before she could reach him, Bai Yun moved.

With a sudden burst of speed, Bai Yun’s form shimmered and shifted, his body phasing through the shadows as he appeared directly in front of Omhina. His void blade slashed through the air with a distortion of space, cutting toward her in a single, fluid motion.

Omhina barely had time to react, her green energy flaring as she raised a barrier, blocking the attack. But the force of the strike sent her staggering back, the impact rippling through the air with a dull thud.

"I don’t think so, General," Bai Yun whispered, his voice cold as he phased backward, his body flickering in and out of the shadows.

Xuán Wěi’s chains tightened further, and Daemon could feel the pull of the ethereal energy draining him, the strength in his limbs waning with every second. His vision blurred for a moment, the world around him fading in and out as the chains tightened around his legs, their ghostly energy sapping the life from him.

"I can’t... move," Daemon gasped, his teeth gritted in pain.

Omhina’s eyes flashed with anger as she whirled toward Xuán Wěi, her hand raised as a wave of green energy surged toward him. But Xuán Wěi merely smirked, his spectral wraiths absorbing the attack, their translucent forms flickering as they absorbed the magical energy.

"You should know better, General," Xuán Wěi said softly. "Your magic can’t touch me. Not when I’ve absorbed this much power."

"What the hell?" Xuán Wěi hissed, his eyes wide with shock as he watched Bai Yun fall. His hand shot out, his fingers curling in a desperate attempt to summon his wraiths, but Omhina’s gaze was locked on him now, her eyes cold and unyielding.

"I’ll kill you, too," Omhina said quietly, her hand raised, ready to unleash the same devastating attack.

But before she could strike, Xuán Wěi muttered something under his breath, his hand flicking in a sharp motion. A surge of arcane energy enveloped Omhina, swirling around her like a vortex as the air crackled with residual magic.

Omhina’s eyes widened in surprise, but before she could react, her body began to flicker, the energy pulling her away as if she were being swallowed by the very air around her.

"You’re not killing anyone today, General," Xuán Wěi muttered darkly, his voice filled with cold satisfaction. "Not here."

And with a final pulse of energy, Omhina vanished.

Daemon gasped, his body trembling as the weight of the chains pulled him down once more. He barely had time to process what had happened before Xuán Wěi turned toward him, his eyes gleaming with malice.

Osalf stepped forward, his blade gleaming in the dim light as he stood over Daemon. "You’re alone now."

Daemon gasped, his breath catching in his throat as the spectral chains tightened around his legs and throat, pulling him down like a beast ensnared in a trap. His vision swam, dark spots flickering at the edges as he felt the strength draining from his limbs. Every breath came harder, each gasp more labored than the last.

Osalf’s voice echoed in his ears, cold and detached, like the tolling of a distant bell.

"You’re alone now."

The words cut deeper than any blade. Daemon’s chest tightened as the weight of them sank in. General Omhina was gone, teleported away by Xuán Wěi, leaving him surrounded by enemies, chained to the ground, and weakened by the arcane energy sapping the life from him. His muscles screamed in protest, the pull of the chains relentless, but he couldn’t let himself give in.@@@@
