Lord of Caldera

Chapter 208

Chapter 208

Before he could finish, the sound of frantic shouting interrupted them.

"My lord! Two more dragons have arrived!"

Sylas and his retainers bolted from the tent, looking out toward the horizon. Indeed, two more dragons had descended from the skies, joining the others.

"Unbelievable," Sylas muttered.

As if their numbers alone weren't troubling enough, these new dragons looked different, each exuding a dangerous aura.

The blue-scaled dragon loomed over the battlefield, its scales glinting like sapphires in the light, and it was nearly twice the size of any other dragon present. While one of the newcomers was only slightly larger than the others, the massive blue-scaled beast commanded immediate attention.

Toby muttered in disbelief, "What in the world are those things?"

"Mutants," Sylas replied curtly.

"Mutants?"

"Yeah, freakishly strong ones," Sylas explained, recalling the last time he'd faced such a beast—a powerful hydra mutation. He remembered that even that mighty hydra had struggled against these blue-scaled dragons. A realization dawned on him as he pieced together the puzzle in his mind. So that's why these dragons were fighting among themselves. They were driven out by these monsters.

The blue dragons had likely pushed their kin out, forcing them into conflict over territory. Sylas's skin tingled as he looked at the massive creatures before him, each radiating a power unlike any ordinary dragon. With a firm shout, he issued his command: "Everyone, prepare for battle!"

The timing was almost chillingly perfect. The moment Sylas's voice rang out, a massive roar erupted from one of the blue-scaled dragons, marking the start of the battle.

The largest blue dragon rose into the sky, its jaws open as it prepared to unleash its fiery breath.

"Fire! It's going to breathe fire!" a soldier yelled. Experience more content on My Virtual Library Empire

The dragon drew in a powerful breath, its mouth filling with blue flames. Sylas sprang into action, launching himself forward with a swift, powerful leap.

"You'll have to do better than that!" he shouted, swinging his axe in retaliation and catching the dragon off guard. It screeched in confusion as he deflected its tail, clearly surprised by his resilience. Ragnar pushed forward, striking harder, his challenge to the dragon reverberating across the battlefield.

With Sylas and Ragnar occupying the two largest dragons, only two smaller dragons remained.

"I'll take the one on the left!" Toby called out.

"And I'll handle the one on the right," Rey responded.

The two knights moved with practiced efficiency, each targeting one of the remaining dragons. Their sudden, aggressive charge forced the dragons to pull back, preventing them from regrouping with their kin.

The sight of four dragons clashing with four formidable warriors—a scene right out of myth—left the gathered soldiers in awe.

"It's like watching legends come to life," someone whispered, capturing the collective awe of the soldiers. It was a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle, a scene that would be remembered by all who saw it.

But their admiration was interrupted by a harsh reality.

A low, menacing growl rumbled nearby.

"Damn it! There's still one more left!"

Four heroes stood against four dragons, but the fifth dragon was now facing down the remaining forces—ordinary soldiers and knights who hadn't yet seen such intense combat.

Cold sweat trickled down their backs as they realized what they were up against. An actual fire-breathing dragon? Without someone strong enough to face it head-on, we're doomed.

As the soldiers wavered, backing away from the massive beast, a commanding voice broke through their fear.

"Get a grip and ready your weapons!"

The soldiers turned toward the sound, and there, standing at the forefront, was Bjorn Belldyne, one of the contenders for the northern throne.
