Chapter 137 Final Exams and New Visitors
Chapter 137 Final Exams and New Visitors
After everyone had finally finished their food, Camille was completely satisfied as she accidentally let out a small burp.
With all the plates now empty, the golem from the restaurant had also finally delivered the paycheck with the total.
"I'll just pay for the whole thing," Sophia offered as she took out her card and prepared to scan it.
"I thought we were splitting it. We can't let you pay for it. This is way too much."
Just as Luna raised her point, Evelyn had already moved her hand over to prevent Sophia's card from being read.
"This really isn't that much. You two are overthinking it. It's not even a quarter's worth of my allowance for a week."
Despite Sophia's argument, Evelyn still didn't let go of her hand, leading to Sophia giving Mary an eye signal.
"Let my sister pay. Our mom has told us to use the allowance specifically to treat you guys."
"But this isn't right. Friends are supposed to be equal, not one being indebted to the other."
Just as Evelyn argued back, she tried to look over to Chloe and Camille for help, but neither of them was willing to speak up.
Chloe didn't want to get involved in the heated debate, considering her smoothie was worth pennies.
Meanwhile, Camille was hiding her face in embarrassment after realizing the number of plates on her side of the table.
It was way more than she could ever afford if she were to pay her 'real' amount based on food eaten.
"Alex, what do you think?" Luna curiously asked.
"I think it's fine to let my sister pay for it... I don't think this payment thing allows for a split anyway.
Besides, there will be more opportunities in the future. Like next time, you guys can pay for it instead." Your next read is at My Virtual Library Empire
The answer finally convinced the two of them to back down, letting Sophia scan her card to pay for it before the golem walked away.
"Okay, let's go to training!"
Camille excitedly stood up, seemingly to have moved past the whole debate behind her.
Luna and Evelyn could only stare at her in annoyance as the rest of them got up before following her out of the restaurant.

As the rest of the day went by, everything seemed to be getting back on track after the spring break.
Every day for Alex and his sisters was developing into what most people experienced in his class.
The schedule of going to school, taking after-school meditation with friends at the training arena, and then heading back home was soon becoming repetitive.
But no one complained in the class, nor did Alex or his sisters complain about it. It was just a part of every mage's path, constant learning and training nonstop.
Of course, Katherine and Meiya still occasionally took them out for a day of fun, wanting them to avoid being burnt out.
Ironically, even though it's called a day of 'fun,' it was more of a day of hard, draining work to hike around various scenic views.
Soon, the month began to fly by as April came close to an end.
Katherine celebrated Sophia's birthday with a little party, inviting her friends and classmates to the house.
After the birthday, May quickly passed uneventfully as nothing happy was out of the ordinary.
As the two girls turned over to Alex, he only shrugged his shoulder in response.
"Should we... like pack some sort of gifts for her?" Mary asked again.
"Mom probably got everything figured out. She would have told us beforehand." Sophia patiently answered.
Just as the three of them finally arrived at their house, they noticed a giant mysterious vehicle was parked right outside on the street.
"What is this thing?" Sophia murmured as the three of them approached the vehicle object.
After a quick examination, Alex immediately felt a sense of familiarity with the vehicle.
It looked extremely similar to a car, but it didn't have wheels or windows in the front or the side.
"Let's just head back home first."
As the three of them headed back to the front door, they quickly noticed the noises coming from the inside.
It was some sort of chattering between two people, one that sounded like Katherine and the other that sounded strange.
Sophia didn't wait any longer as she put the key inside before turning the door.
"We're back."
"Hey, welcome back. How's school today?"
The moment the three walked into the house, they could finally see the stranger that Katherine had been talking to.
It was a mysterious person fully covered from head to toe, not even leaving a single skin to be seen.
"It was okay... Mom, who is this guest?" Sophia curiously asked.
"Guest? She's the one that owns this house. Well, at least before I brought it from the school."
Katherine's answer confused both Mary and Sophia, but Alex instantly realized who the mysterious person was.
"Nice to meet you, professor. Thank you for teaching Mom and giving her a place to stay."
As Alex bowed down in gratitude, the other two kids finally realized it as well and quickly bowed down in gratitude.
"This boy has a sharp mind. He's the son of Paul?" The mysterious person asked in a crackling voice.
"Yes, he's my son Alex. This is the older daughter, Sophia, and this is my younger daughter, Mary."
"They have a good affinity... But are you sure Sophia is your daughter?" The mysterious person asked curiously.
"Really, teacher? I know her affinity doesn't add up, but I have given birth to her. She's 100% my daughter no matter what."
"Ahem, my apology. I just haven't seen that happen before... But there are always outliers."
Seeing the mysterious person staring at his body, Alex started to feel a little uncomfortable.
"Professor, can I ask what we should call you?" Sophia curiously asked.
"Call me Professor Reid... As a heads-up, I'm not related to your family just because we share the same surname."
"Just call him Professor Janna. No one ever calls her by her last name." Katherine interrupted.
"Ahem, I got to go now... Tell Miss Ava that I send her a happy birthday."
"No problem."
