Chapter 459: Story 459: The Chamber’s Judgment

The swirling labyrinth of the coliseum came alive as the central dais began to hum with ancient energy. The intricate carvings on the floor radiated a faint, pulsating light, casting long shadows against the spiral walls. The staircases, now rearranged into an unrecognizable formation, seemed to stretch endlessly into darkness.

Rook and Ghost reached the end of their path, stepping into a dimly lit chamber. A massive stone door blocked their way forward, engraved with shifting runes. Ghost studied it carefully, deciphering the cryptic symbols.

"It’s a riddle," he said, his voice steady. "Solve it, and the door opens. Fail, and..." He pointed to the ceiling, where sharp, rusted spikes loomed ominously.

"Time isn’t on our side," Rook muttered, scanning the room. "What’s the question?"

Ghost squinted at the glowing runes. "It’s about balance. Something about aligning the past and the future to stabilize the present."

Rook gritted his teeth. "Focus, Ghost. Whatever it takes, get it done."

A whisper echoed through the air, chilling and guttural. Viper froze, her instincts kicking in. One of the statues moved—a slow, deliberate twist of its head.

"Not today," she muttered, lunging forward. Her blade struck true, shattering the creature’s stony exterior to reveal a writhing mass of tendrils beneath.

The corridor erupted into chaos as the other statues came to life. Viper fought fiercely, her movements a blur of precision and brutality. Each fallen enemy left behind a glowing shard, which she instinctively collected.

As the last creature fell, the shards fused together, forming a key-like object. A hidden door creaked open, leading her back toward the central dais.

One by one, the team regrouped at the center. The dais now shone brightly, the runes pulsating in unison.

"We made it," Ghost said, holding up the deciphered riddle.

"Not yet," Rook replied grimly, pointing to the shadows gathering above.

The labyrinth wasn’t done with them.
