Chapter 371 Disinterest
Chapter 371 Disinterest
Far, far away from the struggle and strife of lesser beings, something stirred in the embrace of shadows, monumental pagodas holding up platforms with the sole purpose of providing shade to what lies within, approaching with slow steps, wings retracted, body as low as possible, bowing their heads.
"My lord-" spoke the creature respectfully, multiple voices overlapping one another, all perfectly in tune, utterly in sync.
"A moment Solast, there is a little voice reaching... Mmh... And it's gone, soft-fleshed idiot, did you think a little begging would move me?" scoffing, the voice that reached out from the shadows was outrageously loud, coming alongside countless other noises, hisses and guttural sounds, the mere sound of its ridiculing snicker shook the mastodon that was the construct all around, a gigantic hall of nothing but stone, shorn of much decoration, the thing itself had no roof, halls were egregiously wide, and even then, walls were a rare sight, all that could be seen around was the ant-like movement of small humanoid figures, seemingly working upon the conservation of this edifice that dwarfed them in every aspect.
Waiting in silence for a moment, the polite visitor, apparently named Solast- Stood still, awaiting.@@@@
"Go ahead now Solast, what news do you bring me?" the voice from the shadows finally resumed the conversation, slightly tapping upon the ground, causing a devastating quake, throwing the little workers to the ground, none complained or seemed to even take note of the event simply standing up without a sound.
"My lord, the dark has gotten closer, it is moving at a steady pace" spoke Solast, his multiple voice speaking at once.
"Uhum? I don't see the problem with some darkness, well... I suppose a sun aficionado such as yourself would be scared of the dark, ah ah! Anything more interesting?" seemingly unfazed by his lord's utter lack of concern, he continued.
"The dark... It is accompanied by beings that dwell within it, those who have flown too close were beset by a hail of projectiles, lances, harpoons, spells... Some of which held distinct signs that the beings of the dark are of very varying forms and shapes, my lord!
The dark is not simply as it first appeared, I believe that it would be best to treat it as an invading force, or at least, as a hostile group" Solast spoke with as much urgency as decorum could allow, hoping to get the point across to his aloof ruler.
"Mmmh..."
"Varying forms and shapes you say? As in what Solast? Humans? Giants? Beasts? Elemental spirit?
Golems? Dragons?" his lords chuckled, not expecting an answer to this.
"Indeed! Can you visualise anything capable of bringing me down?"
"I cannot"
"This continent belongs to me, as such, it too can not be brought down as well, how many dragon slayers and usurpers have I slain and devoured?
Not even I can count so far, this little darkness, is nothing to larp about, have the ones affiliated with darkness take a look if you wish, hell, if you fear it still, do something about it, I do not care, it is inconsequential" the dragonlord remained unfazed.
The two dragons remained silent for an instant, the lord sighing, a gust of wind worthy of uprooting a castle emerging.
"I can see that you are still meaning to say something, go ahead"
"My lord, do you remember the visit of that foreign frost dragon?" asked Solast.
"Ah yes! Svaltimas was it? Ah, a shame he did not pledge allegiance, his fight with Arark was a feast on my eyes, the old wyvern really got pushed by a dragon from afar, what is with this child?"
"This Svaltimas spoke of the dark, or rather, he spoke of death itself coming from Viridis, this continent... It is in the direction the darkness is coming from, if it represents death itself-" Solast was cut off.
"Now, now... Are you taking his words literally?
Many things can be called death for one that is weak enough to be threatened, but very well, darkness and death, I can understand that you are worried about such trifling matters, investigate to your heart's content, just do it, and if you discover something, come and report it, if death itself is truly coming this way, I'll greet it myself..." the lord chuckled.
"...But unto more important topics, the clan of those most scrumptious flying serpents, have they agreed to send me one of their females? I should go out more often, I wasn't aware that there were such beauties just flying around until recently! And it is high time that I make descendants again, the last one decided to go off and live on another continent, little shit..."
Much to Solast's dismay, his lord would not take anything seriously, at least, anything that did not involve mating was pushed to the back.
