Chapter 427: Trance
Chapter 427: Trance
Near the westernmost gate, at the exact same time the bull’s approach was noticed at the easternmost gate, a magnificent, bright silver knight, their allure enchanting as well as mesmerising approached accompanied by a few robed figures and other knights bearing silver, their leader simply standing a head or so taller than the rest, wielding straight swords in both hands.
The subordinates were wrapped in clothes depicting a single circular object each, whilst the silver knight’s showed four, walking elegantly, this radiance of silver made the archers hesitate for a moment, feeling as though it would be soiling this noble warrior’s honour to dare shoot at them with such derisory arrows.
But they snapped out of it eventually, firing their shots to no effect, one of the robed undeads held out their putrefied hands above their heads, as if in reverence of the sky, manifesting a bright orb of pale silver, appearing like a melting eye, it stared right at the oncoming projectiles, causing them to freeze in the air, tremble, shake from the right to left, no, shaking them the left, turning them right around and throwing the projectiles right back with double the initial force, riddling some dead, and injuring many other.
Having readily convinced the livings to not try shooting at them again, the silver knight motioned toward the gates, stampeding into view, a bull showed itself, rather than pale and without flesh upon the skull, this was a jiggling mass of decaying fat, oozing a toxic yellow pus from all over, eyes gazing into the distance like those of a beheaded fish.
Horns protruding forward before bending upward, not smouldering with any flame, another of the many beasts of Loimos, a particular caste filled with many sorts of creatures, not intelligent like other undeads due to their feral minds, they still took great pride in bearing the name of their general, even if both bulls were the equivalent of rookies, their species and great size allowed for them to see some action either way.
Rushing forward without anyone shooting or trying to stop its charge, like its fellow, the impact forcefully cracked the gate open, making its flesh imitate a wave, called back by the silver knight immediately after, the beast moved to the back of the group.@@@@
"Only one knight you say?" pressed the undead.
"Yes... The other two with me are but disguised soldiers, we did not want the enemy to notice something was off..." Sari questioned him how it was that they appeared as strong as knights then, her senses should have picked up something like.
"All thanks to the easterners... The feasters, they provided ’meals’ that when consumed, could fool one’s senses... Prepared with much life force... They said, to fool even the undead"
Sari wanted to rub the bridge of her nose, she tried to get him to speak of the so-called second plan, but either he did not know the details, or his will was too strong to reveal such sensitive information.
’The livings are well prepared... Better prepared than Sir Ourlst might have expected, I have the feeling that his hopes for a swift conquest will be crushed and minced’ the knightess shook her head, such was the unpredictable nature of conflict, they could not know everything, the enemy was going to be ahead in some aspects.
"Send them all to the mind peelers"
