Chapter 204: Prelude To The Great Flood 6

Cain and his progenies approached the towering edifice of the Tower of Babel, its silhouette cutting an imposing figure against the darkened sky of Lorian, now known as the City of Darkness. The streets leading to the tower were eerily silent, the once-bustling city now a desolate wasteland under Lucifer’s dominion.

Shadows clung to the ruins of buildings, and a perpetual twilight cast an eerie glow over the landscape.

Cain’s eyes, sharp and calculating, scanned the tower’s intricate details. Automated mechanisms and enchanted constructs worked in seamless harmony, creating a structure that was both functional and mystical. The walls were lined with pulsating crystals, their radiant light creating an otherworldly atmosphere that seemed to pulse with life.

Cain’s progenies—Mabel, Alaric, Lysandra, Dorian, Thalia, Balthazar, and Isolde—followed closely behind him, each alert and ready. They had already discussed the tower’s missing power source, but Cain’s purpose here today was different. He had sensed something—or rather, someone—powerful. Someone he hadn’t felt in eons.

"Lilith is here," Cain murmured, more to himself than to his progenies. The revelation carried a weight of history and emotion, the memory of the last time he had seen her resurfacing. She had given him the vial that transformed him into a vampire, forever altering his existence.

Mabel glanced at Cain, her brow furrowed in concern. "Cain, what do you plan to do if she truly is here?"

Cain’s eyes narrowed slightly as he approached, his progenies fanning out around the room, each one alert and ready. "I must find her. She is a key figure in the unfolding events. Her presence signifies a shift in the balance of power, and we need to understand her intentions."

As they moved closer to the base of the tower, the air grew thicker with arcane energy. Cain extended his senses, reaching out with his vampiric abilities, trying to pinpoint Lilith’s exact location. Yet, despite his efforts, she remained elusive, her presence like a faint whisper in the vast sea of power that surrounded the tower.

"Stay alert," Cain instructed his progenies. "She is near, but she is not one to be easily found."

They entered the tower, its grand entrance flanked by massive stone columns etched with ancient runes. Inside, the ambient glow from the crystals created an almost ethereal atmosphere, casting long shadows that danced across the walls.

Cain stepped closer, his gaze unwavering. "You speak in riddles, Lucifer. But I will unravel your plans, make no mistake."

Lucifer laughed softly, the sound echoing through the grand chamber. "Oh, Cain, always so determined. You and your progenies are welcome to try, but be careful what you seek. The truth may not be to your liking."

Before Cain could respond, the air in the chamber grew even thicker with power, a palpable tension humming between the two ancient beings. Cain’s progenies, sensing the potential for conflict, stood at the ready, their eyes darting between their leader and the Devil.

Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows at the edge of the chamber. It was Lilith, her presence commanding and filled with an aura of both grace and danger. Her crimson eyes locked onto Cain, a mixture of recognition and calculation in her gaze.

"Lilith," Cain said, his voice softening slightly. "It has been a long time."

Lilith nodded, her expression unreadable. "Indeed, Cain. Much has changed since we last met."

Lucifer’s smile widened, watching the interaction with interest. "Ah, the reunion of old acquaintances. How touching."

Ignoring Lucifer’s taunt, Cain took a step towards Lilith. "Why are you here, Lilith? What is your role in this?"

Lilith shook her head as she stood beside Lucifer and spoke. "That is where you are wrong Cain, there is no role to play here, this is not a game but something more so my advice to you is if you want to survive alongside your followers, then you must be a coward and do what the celestial council did, Hide"
