Chapter 1269 - 41: Morning Light (Part 2)-3
The scattered mecha wreckage on the battlefield was crushed into powder by the hefty mecha iron palms, and each corpse was transformed into bloody minced meat. The scorched earth flew up as the mecha’s anti-slip gear churned it. The entire world was torn apart by these steel giants’ high-speed charge. In the air, every sound was the piercing scream caused by the mechas."Shit!" Sniper Feng Laos raised his gun and fired. A burst of blood blossomed on the back of a Jiepeng soldier who had just crawled out from a scorched mecha, and he slumped softly at the edge of the cockpit, only to be suddenly devoured by a roaring Fierce Fire from the mecha.
"Platoon leader, how long do we need to hold?!" Feng Laos shouted loudly.
"I don’t know!" Nash fired without turning his head, his voice drifting amidst the intense explosions and gunfire.
"Crazy," Feng Laos gritted his teeth, poking his head out to fire another shot, "all of them are goddamn crazy! Two infantry regiments, one armored camp, blocking an entire armored division, whose stupid idea is this?!"
Bang, with a loud explosion, a missile landed in front of the position. Amidst the flying earth and debris, Nash finished his last energy magazine, ducking into the trench, and gave Feng Laos a sidelong glance, saying: "Well, I happen to know this one. The plan was made by General Tian. What, do you have a problem?!"
"General Tian..." Feng Laos pulled his head back, giving an awkward smile, "It’s him, huh, no wonder someone had the guts."
Feng Laos’s words drew a burst of laughter from the surrounding warriors.
"What are you laughing at?" Feng Laos glared, "If this idea was from anyone else, I wouldn’t believe any of you would feel confident. I trust General Tian! If he dared to put us here, he surely has a backup plan!"
"And if there’s no backup?" Shen Ming, who had just finished repairing a mecha, ducked into the trench, helping load the portable energy cannon with a grin as he asked.
Bang!
Feng Laos poked his head out for another shot. As he pulled back, he added a horizontal mark on his gunstock with a dagger. The gunstock, densely marked with lines, represented his sniper kills.
Hearing Shen Ming’s tease, he stiffened his neck, gritting his teeth, "If there’s no backup, even if I lose my life here, I’ll accept it! Back on Hill 347, I never thought I’d come out alive. To have survived till today is all thanks to General Tian’s grace. I trust him; I’ll stake my life on him!"
The people in the trench exchanged smiles, for they shared the same sentiment.
Throughout this journey, if it weren’t for that plump general who fell from the sky, this troop would have been wiped out at the Karachi Riverfront.
Everyone had a profound admiration for Fatty.
In one night, they made a raid for hundreds of kilometers, sequentially destroyed three armored camps, lured the enemy away to rescue prisoners, stayed behind at Hill 415 only to launch a proactive attack, striking so hard that the enemy’s 59th Division didn’t even have the courage to probe further. At the crucial moment, he led everyone to break through Hot Spring Town. All these experiences, even when thought of now, stirred one’s blood and made one’s heart race.
As long as they saw that straightforward, fair-skinned Fatty and his Mechanical God mecha units who carried themselves without the bearing of standard soldiers, everyone felt reassured.
Having crawled out of piles of the dead and toured hell once, no one considered what lay ahead. As long as they had General Tian, with his Heavenly Pegasus-like tactical genius, as long as they could follow him forward, there were no obstacles they couldn’t overcome!
Following him into battle, there were only two words, exhilarating!
Even now, everyone was unaware of why the troops were split into three groups, where the other two echelons went, and why, after a night of forced march, they engaged and rushed into the heart of Jiepeng’s territory to dig trenches and set up a three-kilometer defensive line, holding off an entire Jiepeng Armored Division’s attack, but as long as they heard that it was Fatty’s decision, everyone was all-in without hesitation.
"Attack!"
With a roar, the warriors re-entered the fray.
The winding three-kilometer position was built along a small hillside. On the flat land before the broad defensive line, the aggressive Jiepeng Armored Group charged forth with a trail of dust and sand. Smoke filled the air, artillery flashes flickered, and amidst the forest of smoke and earthen pillars, Jiepeng mecha after mecha toppled while segment after segment of position was covered by overwhelming artillery fire.
The assault wave pounded the frail defense line time and again.
As two sections of the defensive line seemed to verge on collapse under the relentless assault of the Jiepeng Armored Group, hell-bent on breaching at any cost, suddenly, a thunderous roar erupted from the position.
"Kill!"
Amid the earth-shaking cries of battle, hundreds of Red Mecha, led by two White Mecha, suddenly leaped out from the position, streaming down the hillside and, in a flash of light and fire, crashed head-on into the densest, most ferocious spearhead of the Jiepeng Armored Group.
This was a straightforward, head-on collision without any flourish.
The mechas on both sides clashed like two packs of ferocious lions, savagely tearing into each other amidst earth-shaking roars. Their mighty frames, vicious fangs, and powerful claws demonstrated raw strength and brutality with every swing.
For a while, heaven and earth dimmed and the sun and moon lost their light. The dust whipped up by the mechas, the white flashes of the energy cannon’s close-range blasts, and the sky-high flames completely obscured the battlefield. What could be felt was only the unending clangor of metal against metal and the sound of explosions within the fray.
It was unknown how long had passed when, suddenly, a white silhouette flashed by, followed closely by another!
"Hurrah!" Feng Laos, with sharp eyes, jumped up, waving his arms and cheering fanatically.
