The Goddess Made A Mistake Again

Chapter 538 - Finding the Whistler

Chapter 538 - Finding the Whistler

’The Boss is in a bad mood.’That’s what everyone thought at the moment.

"Well, speak. Don’t let my appearance stop you guys." Henry looked at them.

"Boss" Benedict opened his mouth as it seemed he was about to say something profound, yet he fingered Reina, "It was that woman, she’s the one who was complaining about you being so late- I- I mean, reasonably late, yes!"

Reina widened her eyes, "Benedict, You Bas-" She quickly looked at Henry, "Yes, Boss, I may have... spoken about you." She changed her look to flirtatious, "But it’s only because I am worried, especially with how the last meeting went."

"Is that so?" Salvick grinned at the sharp eyes staring back at him, "Though, we are actually worried. What did happen after the Valkyries came, Boss?"

Henry sighed at the question.

"What do you expect? They spoke about Justice and something about criminal activity, we had some back and forth, fought slightly-"

"Yeah, the fight..." Maverick wondered about the men who remained to help them escape, "I believe you jumped straight into it; you didn’t kill any of the Valkyries? That would put a huge headache on us."

"No, no." Henry denied casually, "We had a bit of a tussle, the leader pussied away, I knocked one out and almost killed another, but that was it."

Everyone’s eyes dug at Henry.

"You did... what?" Rocky stuttered, "The Leader puss... You almost killed who?"

"What was her name?" Henry looked around in thought, "I think her name was Sasha."

Rocky looked puzzled, "Sasha?... I don’t recal"

"Tasha..." Maverick corrected, "It was Tasha Ramos."

Henry nodded, "Yeah, yeah, it was the woman with the muscles."

’The muscles?’ Rocky thought for a moment before the image came. He remembered the tall and most monstrous Valkyrie and heard of her legends.

’Her?! The Boss beat her!?’ Rocky’s face paled and he looked at Henry and stopped, ’Well... if it’s the Boss vs Tasha, I will wager on him.’

Benedict was still confused, "So you beat that brick of a woman and almost killed her?"

"Yes" Before any could ask more, Henry raised his hand, "Alright! We fought, they brought in reinforcement and took me to the capital, we had a trial and I got out, end of the matter!"

"Now let’s get into the reason of why this meeting is being held." Henry looked at them sharply, "The Merger"

Everybody stiffened at the word; it felt as if they all harbored thoughts they didn’t want revealed.

Yet Henry smiled instead, "For now... let’s keep that matter aside, instead let’s focus on the multiplicity of fuck ups that have been going on under everyone’s watch."

Eyebrows went up, they looked at Henry in curiosity.

Henry skipping about the Merger was already one thing, but what is the problem that happened with them.

"Don’t understand?" He smiled with a rage hidden within, "Let me help with that."

In his hands, lay multiple reports of their business deals, expense and other arrangements... which he threw in the air in front of them. All of them looked at the papers, how they swung lazily and spotted the red marks on most of them.

One of the papers fell in Benedict’s lap and as he read it, he smiled. He passed it to Reina next to him, "This is yours, woman."

Reina quickly took it and her gaze darkened. The paper consisted of details of stolen jewellery, which were supposed to be passed onto their arrangements, but an unexpected raid occurred on the warehouse where the jewelries were stored.

"How can you have peaceful nights with something like this happening on your turf. If it were me, I’d stay awake all night and make sure everything stayed pristine like a hawk." Benedict gave a dirty look.

"So why aren’t you?" Rocky spoke and Benedict looked at the paper in his hand. Without saying anything, he snatched it. In moments, he had the same look as Reina. The paper was one of the reports he himself had written on a failed delivery mission caused by a surprise attack by adventurers.

"They are all reports within the previous two months." Henry informed.

Not only Rocky and Benedict, all members had their names on the problematic reports. They all looked at their own failures and gazed at the papers lying around.

They counted the pile and it was quite a bit. With the line of work they did, it was natural to have problems and disasters working synonymous with their income.

Though they had to admit, for only two months, it was more trouble than it should have been. It was almost as if, they are all-

"They are all connected."

Everyone looked at Maverick. He held multiple reports of all members present and observed through them quickly as he spoke, "If we look at them in an orderly manner, you can see that each incident happened one or two days after the previous one. The dates don’t go beyond two, maybe maximum four days apart from the others."

"And there’s this strange thing." Maverick leaned forward with a precarious gaze towards the papers.

"What strange thing?" Salvick leaned forward and curiously asked with his Russian-like voice.

"The raids... all the raids from the soldiers and the adventurers don’t make sense." Maverick looked up and seeing some didn’t understand, spoke up, "Look at the reports, each incident jumped from one member to another and it didn’t linger."

"Huh... is that supposed to make sense or?" Benedict said.

"What his trying to say is, the dogs are not staying on one path." Francis spoke for the first time, "Normally they would find a trace and keep hounding on it until they could unearth the whole thing... but they didn’t."

"Instead, they are dipping their toes to one pond and before it could ripple much, they dip to another." Francis’s smile sharpened, "It’s almost as if... they are trying to hide it."

"Which they should not." Salvick nodded in understanding.

"They are working in an orderly manner and making sure they don’t cause too much noise." Rocky murmured, "Something they don’t do until they got something big."

"Uh... am I missing something here?" Benedict looked at the others and Salvick sighed before explaining.

"Normally the officers would find a trace of our activity and bulldoze on it." Salvick said as Benedict nodded, "Which may not be efficient but its fast and it digs out things before we can bury it. But they’re not doing that and moving to things with a precise manner, which means..."

"Someone whistled." Benedict finally understood as his eyes shone.

Knock Knock!

They all looked at Henry who knocked twice on the table with his knuckle, "At least I don’t have to worry about you being knuckleheads... well, except for one."

Benedict lowered his head in embarrassment.

"So now the only question, who did it?" Henry said, "It’s obviously one of us, someone with vast amount of information regarding all of us."

"Then its most likely Maverick." Salvick said, "He is the Head of Management after all and has information of all our work."

Maverick didn’t say anything, his face a cold mask.

Henry’s mouth scrunched in distaste, "Yeah... fortunately he’s not. Otherwise, it really would have been problematic. Look at those reports again, what is the other strange thing among them."

Maverick spoke, "One of the members has the least incidents, almost few." He looked to his direct right, "Fredrick Barlow."

Fredrick shook loudly, "It isn’t me. It can’t be me; I have never done anything to this gang. Even when profits came, I have always been loyal to this group."

"But that’s not what shows here." Henry shook a report lazily and laughed lightly.

"Though, it would be quite convenient for you, if it was Fredrick." Henry looked right at the E cups, "Wouldn’t it, Reina."
